Another noobish question. Which do you prefer - 2000, 3000, or 5000? Is the game any better/worse/different when the races are all a bit overpowered with 5000 points to allocate? Any advantage to the player or the AI? I've been playing all my games with only 2000 so far. I like to have some obvious disadvantages to my race, and not just be a juggernaut.

Dobian, I tend to agree with you. In order to give the AI some 'ummpphhh', I will tend to play with starting racial points at 5000, but only take 2000 myself. Can make the game more interesting.

Dobian, I agree with GT. I play the same as well, 5000 points and 2000 for myself. It does make for a better more challenging game. IMHO

Try 0 points and must take 2 advanced racial traits ( Organic , Temporal etc... )

I set my races up for all three, but mostly play with 5000.

Yeah, me too. Solo games I give the AI's 5K and I use only 2K...and give them the bonuses as well. Sometimes the AI puts up a pretty good fight... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I was playing that at home, the conclusion must wait until I return... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I like variety; the only setting I haven't played in a solo game is 0. I think my PBW games have tended to be 2000 or 3000; I've got a 0 point game that I took over as a replacement.

A couple of the races I made up for solo games would be difficult to do "right" with less than 5000 points.
