Is it possible to download the manual from anywhere/anyone? I have ordered the full Version, but it will take 5 days to come (as I live in the UK). I am currently playing the demo and love it....the manual would help me out though!
Thanks

The html manual is the SE4 manual, not the extended SE4 Gold manual

I don't think the HTML manual come with the demo...at least I can't see it anywhere. Most frustrating!

between the FAQ (sticky topic on top of this forum) and the Encyclopedia Malfadorica (somebody link please), you have alot of free Online resources that are probably better than the HTML manual.

No, the demo is missing the manual, but it is not all that anyway. Puke is leading you right. The in-game manual is as limited as the book manual you get with the game, and that makes a nice coaster. To give you an idea, the manuals are about as informative as the tutorial.

FieldDoc,
I sorta think of this forum as the manuel. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Definatly check with the forum every day and look through the Encycapedia and the FAQ for Newbies.

You can also read a lot of the newbie question and the sticky at the top of the forum. ( http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=005518 ) That will provide you with a lot of information that is not in the manual.

1. Remember your colony ships MUST have population cargo in order to colonize a world and have a population on it. (Will colonize without population pay load, but won't have any population on the planet.)

2. Use weapon Mounts.

4. Phased Poloron Beams (PPB), Point Defense Cannons (PDC's) are your friends. (Learn the ackernims if you can.)

5. Urban Pacification Centers will become your best friend

6. Take time and set up your empire the way you want it. Use the max racial points allowable, 5000 and pay close attention to religious, and temperol technologies.

7. USE Advanced Storage, and Natural Merchants when setting up your race. AD gives you extra room on your planets for more facilities, and NM, allows you to expand without the need for Spaceports.

8. In the SETTINGS.txt in the DATA folder, you can changed the default 100 systems to 255.

9. There is no special order to research. If you want to see what each weapon is capible of, click this link = > http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newuploads/1041380342.txt

10. Strongy recommend that you read the http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=005518 thread as it contains a massive amount of information from many of the players who have been around a long time. Ruatha has also done a great job of organizing much of the info.
