As there are many new players.
I wish to start a thread where players can post their tips and Strategies for Combat.
Please keep it to Simultaneous Games.
This thread will also allow us to discuss the theories of Ship and fleet movements based on the different Strategy Options.

Here is one.
If your like me and create some specialized ships here is a no no.
Ships that only have Shield Depleter V and Ionic Disperser V ( place the shield depleter first )
Shield Depleter V has a max range of 7
Ionic Disperser V has a max range of 6
This ship is doomed for failure. Example of Max Range
Why?
The ship will close to range 7 and destroy all shields on a ship.
Once the Shields are destroyed the ship will stay back at range 7 and 8 and never close to range 6 to destroy the engines.
If the target ships engines are destroyed. The ship will still remain within 7 or 8 squares from the target ship.
If the target ship has a quantum reactor and can target your ship at that range your ship will be destroyed.
When does this strategy work ?
If the enemy does not have quantum reactors and you set your strategy to point blank.
Your ships will close and destroy the shields and engines on the enemy ship. Once the engines are destroyed the target ship is dead in the water. No supplies no weapons fire.
Now your other direct fire ships can close and finish off the target ship.
Where is this strategy good against.
This tactic should be used against Religious players as it will force the Religious player to add more shielding and a quantum reactor to their ships.
This tactic should be used in limited resource games. This way you do not destroy the ships but allow them to survive the battle and sit there in space draining valuable resources from an empire.
Variations to this tactic would include adding Null - Space Projector to skip the armor to destroy the inner structure of the target ship.
Always building ships with 2 Shield Depleter and 1 Ionic Disperser ( or more ) as the first set of weapons followed with Anti - Proton Beams
