When you set up a new game, how can you engineer it so that YOU select your opponents you are playing with? When I keep adding existing races...they end up being human controlled!

You have to edit them, and turn on the Controlled by AI button.

Yes, do as Fyron said.
To do this you put it in like you were doing. Then start the game. Before you end your turn go up to the game menu button. (White clipboard or F2)
Then click on Players. Then selece which ones you want the AI to control. In your case all but the first one. Then return to the game and play your turn and end it. All is good after that.

No. After you load the empire files, edit them. Change it before you even start the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Oh ok, I found it. I guess since I hardly ever mess with anything in that area (close to it that is) that I new saw it there. Or I just plainly forgot. Ahh well, I learned something new today, my day is complete. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
