Open the mod in gold, and then fix all error Messages it gives you. Then, make sure to use goldified AIs. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Picture lines in vehiclesize.txt and vehicle types and targets in components.txt are some of the most important differences I can recall right now.

You are welcome to use any of my AI files and I think it is safe to say the other authors will not mind either.

As for data/settings file:

these lines go between 'Planet Value High Resources' and 'Plr Planet Value Low Percent':

Asteroids Value Low Percent := 50
Asteroids Value High Percent := 300
Asteroids Value Low Resources := 100000
Asteroids Value High Resources := 800000

these lines go below 'System Ship Movement Delay Milliseconds':

Drone Supply Usage Per Turn := 200
Drones Can Be Hit By Mines := True
Population Mass := 5
Reproduction Check Frequency := 1
Minimum Computer Player Low Setting := 1
Maximum Computer Player Low Setting := 3
Minimum Computer Player Medium Setting := 3
Maximum Computer Player Medium Setting := 7
Minimum Computer Player High Setting := 6
Maximum Computer Player High Setting := 10
Minimum Neutral Player Low Setting := 1
Maximum Neutral Player Low Setting := 3
Minimum Neutral Player Medium Setting := 3
Maximum Neutral Player Medium Setting := 7
Minimum Neutral Player High Setting := 6
Maximum Neutral Player High Setting := 10
Fighter Supply Usage Per Turn := 5
Fighters Can Be Hit By Mines := True
Maximum Planet Percent Value := 250
Minimum Planet Percent Value := 0
Maximum Planet Resource Value := 999000000
Minimum Planet Resource Value := 0
Bases Can Join Fleets := False
No Retrofit Adding Of Spaceyards := True
No Retrofit Adding Of Colony Module := True
Seeker Combat Defense Modifier := 40
Planet Combat Offense Modifier := 30
Planet Combat Defense Modifier := -200

glad to hear the mod is being goldified http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

wth are the cut and paste differences between non-Gold and Gold data/settings? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Instructions for the AI files are linked in my sig.

Another difference between them is that in QuadrantTypes.txt , pre-Gold % chance is in percent (should add to 100), while in Gold % chance is in tenths of one percent (should add to 1000).

capnq: So, I just add a zero to the -pre-gold quadrant value to get "Golden" values?

Bases can then resupply ships. That is why it was disabled in the Last patch. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">But it's not automatic. Say you add a ship to a fleet that is low on supplies, and the ship is carrying a lot of supplies. The new ship's supplies will be put into the supply pool. however, is you remove that supply ship the same turn, it takes all of it's original supplies with it. It has to be a part of the fleet at the begining of the turn to get the "equal split". I suspect the rule would apply to stations if you made that change. So, considering the station has unlimited supplies, I see no reason why one shouldn't be able to re-supply a ship.

IMO, they "fixed" the wrong thing. Unlimited supplies on a remote station is silly. If you want to build remote stations, you should have to add solar collectors and supply storage to it. If you don't have the tech for that, then research it. Yes, that would make early remote stations harder to be usefull. But hey, your race is just entering it's space age. "unlimited supplies" should be farther down the timeline. Just my .02

As has been said before, it's not 'infinite' supplies. It's enough for the station itself to function indefinitely, not to supply entire fleets. Bases don't need engine fuel (the main use of supplies) and they could be supplied with top-ups of food/air/water etc. by the 'invisible merchant ships' that carry resources around the game.

If players had to keep resupplying bases themselvs, there would be complaints and the AI would struggle.

It would be nice if there was a really good mechanism set up for dealing with bases and supply - it makes sense to want to build a large remote base that can act as a fueling station for task forces. As it is, I think the current situation is a decent compromise.

So, I just add a zero to the -pre-gold quadrant value to get "Golden" values? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As Fyron said, it's not that simple, because of the new system types. The distributions change a bit, as well.

For example, in a "classic" Mid-Life quadrant, the frequency for Standard 1 and 2 systems are each 20%, and Standard 3 is 18%.

In a Gold Mid-Life, Standard 1 is 24.0%, Standard 2 is 23.7%, and Standard 3 is 19.5%.

If the mod doesn't change QuadrantTypes.txt , you don't have to worry about it. If the mod does change QuadrantTypes.txt , you basically have to cut & paste the changes into a copy of the Gold Version, and edit the numbers to add up to 1000 again.

Look at P&N 3.1 PBW for bases that have limited supplies.

aahhh...I see...B5 mod currently has 17 system types, Gold has 39...hmmmm....personally I do not care for the "organic" infestations and such, but.....

I did "gold-ify" the B5 file but of course it did not have the new-fangled types....so I have a Gold compliant file but with only pre-gold types....

*snicker* I wonder what witicism the Vorlons will have when they cross an "organic infestation" ?? hehe
