I have not observed any slow load times for v1.84.

In the past, I have had programs that remain active in the background like Norton Antivirus interfere with software performance (games in particular). Could something like this be an issue for you?

1.84 loads faster for me than 1.78.

Have you ever swept your system for spyware? I use Ad-Aware {link} (http://lavasoft3.element5.com/software/adaware/) quite often.

A virus sweep is always a good idea, too.
