I would just like to register my gratitude to all of the people in this group who have been so helpful to me in getting into the game. I've received good advice from many of you -- too many to list -- but special thanks to Imperator Fyron. Many times I have posted a naive question, and received helpful advice within minutes! And, people have been quite patient, even when answering questions that have been asked and answered before.

Also, I think I can safely speak for the whole community when I say that Geoshmo has really made this game much better than it would otherwise be, with the creation of PBW. And, he is soooo attentive and helpful. Whenever I have asked a question, either here or on the PBW forum, he has responded helpfully, often within minutes.

Thank you all. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif What a terrific group of people.

The nicest people are here!

Never trust:
1. A Computer
2. Someone who says "trust me"
3. Bankers
4. Adds on TV
5. Lawyers
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL. Especially watch out for a lawyer on TV who says "trust me".

No, a lawyer for banking firms using a computer while on T.V. that tells you to trust him.

Thank you for your kind words Merry. But I didn't create PBW. Admiral did. I merely maintain it, and I couldn't do it alone. The team of admins:

The Admiral
LazarusLong42
Gimboid
capnq
georgig

And the support from the entire community makes the work we do possible.

The altruistic contributions here are truly impressive. This forum is has two distinct forces that are diametrically opposed to each other. Here they meld to create a resource for which I am decidedly grateful. I hope to make my own contributions some day
Competition and co – operation
My thanks to all of you.

Thanks Merry, I'm glad that I could be of help.

And you're right, this is one of the best communities of gamers around. It's a big reason why I enjoy SE4 so much. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Roleplayers and Gamers, i presume.

An old separation into two streams of fans going a long way back to pre-SEIV,into the earlier days of SEIII

Your welcome Merry, im glad i was of any help to you.

But roleplayers are gamers. You have to have a game to roleplay. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Sure Fyron,
The altruistic contributions are like your FQM or the TDM Ais. The diametrically opposed forces are the players who co – operate by answering questions and sharing tricks that will aid people they will they will compete against. I have also notice a level of informal competition in who answers a question first.

I remember when I first came to this forum, it was probably the most friendly, helpful, mature group of people Online. It probably still is, despite my posting here http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I remember a few threads similar to this one, back in a couple years go. Thanks were pouring out to people like Daynarr, Mephisto, Devnullicus, and countless others. Im honored that I made the new list http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

It's not roleplayers and gamers. He isn't saying two Groups of people. He is talking about the two forces of competition and cooperation. They exsist in each of us. One causes us to be helpful and share information, the other tries to keep us from doing so, but is responsible for our continued interest in the game in the first place.
