Sorry for the holdup, I had a minor family crisis. I should have time to get my turns caught up tonight after work. I hope I wasn't too much of an inconvenience.

Both the wife and the kid had the upchucks. Needless to say that I was running a little short on sleep. And with OT all weekend long at work, it doesn't look like I'm gonna get much rest anytime soon. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
But they are both feeling better now, if not well, so I should have a little more time to myself again...

Also, being on emergency build for one weekend means you should be on slow build for the next one, so don't worry about that. Unless your employer is using the Clear Queue eb exploit, in which case you need to upgrade him to v1.84.
Hope this helps,

Spoon: Actually, my employer is suffering from a recently discovered bug: overcompensation of a problem due to extreme lack of common sense. It's a fairly common problem in corporate management, but mine seems to have had a recent flare-up.
To make a long story short, when K-mart (the company's 6th biggest customer) went belly up Last year, RSC was left holding $10 million worth of inventory without any immediate customers to dump it off on... er, I mean sell it to. This happened right before the year end inventory.... So this year, the corporate geniuses (oxymoron?) decided to only manufacture product "Just In Time" to fill the orders. (the ever popular "JIT policy"). Problem is, they overcompensated, and now we are working lots of overtime just to fill the orders on time. There are several products at our factory alone that are going straight from the factory line into waiting trucks for shipment to the customer. Not a good way to do business, IMHO. But what do I know; after all, I don't work in the corporate office, so I must not know much....
/end rant
ANYWAY, the reason I'm ressurecting this thread is to make an announcement. I will be away on vacation soon, and was hoping that my games could be put on alpu. I'll be gone from March 14th to March 25th.
My current games are:
Junkyard Wars 2
Adamant 4
History of the Galaxy 2
Big Fat Zero 3
BFZ4
Horrible Doom
Thanx in advance. If ALPU is out of the question, just let me know on the game forum.

I chose not to have an avatar. Back when they first introduced them (before my cable modem days), I noticed a severe lag in load times. When I turned Avatars off in my personal settings, that lag went away. So to help out, I chose not to use an avatar. I think that the load time lag was resolved, but I didn't follow it all that closely (avatars aren't really all that important to me). And I'm just too set in my ways to change, now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Back on topic, several of my games have requested that I find replacement players for my turns while I'm gone. I have no objections to that, but when I looked at Walmart, I couldn't find them anywhere. I asked a clerk about it, but he just gave me a funny look, told me to "get a life, man" and walked away. Anybody know where I can get one of these nifty things?

Ok. Several game admins have requested that I find a replacement player for my turns during this week off. After checking the local retail store without any luck, I thought I'd check here. Any takers?

the easiest solution would be to PM me your passwords for both PBW and for your empire in that game.
That way when you are back you just have to change your PBW password and resume your game as if I never existed !

In addition to all this vacation stuff, I have transfered shifts, so when I get back from vacation I'll be on dayshift. So my game time schedule will be pretty up in the air for a couple of weeks. I'm not asking for anything other than a little patience from my game owners if I miss a turn or two. I just thought that you might like to know...

Hi all. I'm really sorry about the extended unexplained abscense. Here's a piece of advice: Never forget to close the window that is right next to the computer, especially if the weatherman thinks that it might rain. And I'm not going to go into that embarassing story any more than that, so don't bother asking for explainations. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
I haven't checked PBW yet to see how many games I've been booted out of. Honestly, this whole dayshift thing isn't leaving me with much free time anyway. If I've been replaced, cool; that player can keep my spot.
I'll try to check PBW soon, but right now the Real World just won't give me time to think, much less play a game.
Again, sorry that I've inconvenienced you all.

July 12th, 2003, 08:45 PM
*Sigh* The RW just won't give me a break. I will not have much time Online in the forseeable future, and so I'm going to have to withdraw from my PBW games. I will eventually come back, I just don't know when. I don't expect any of my games to wait on me. I apologize for any inconvenience.
In regards to P&N on PBW, I suggest that one of the other players take over the game admin job. Fyron has lots of experience in this, so he would probably be able to handle it (if he wants it).
As for the PBC game, Just drop me on one of the homeworlds for now. Lisif was supposed to be my 2nd in command, but it looks like he just got a promotion.
And then there's the AoW mod. I probably won't have any time to work on it, either. If someone else takes up the reins of this poor, dejected mod, I would have no objections. If that doesn't happen, I'll have to finish it when I come back.
It's been lots of fun, and I hope to be back soon. I'm just not holding my breath, though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
