I personally d/l the deluxe Version as an american, deluxe must be better... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

But what is the real differences?

So far as I can tell the FQM dlx Version requires the image mod and std doesn't?

Of course there must be more to it..

Fill me in if you will...

Thx

Ken

Look in the Deluxe readme at the Version history. Read 2.00 and 2.01. That is what is different between the 2 Versions. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The primary difference though is that maps created by FQM Deluxe MUST be played with FQM Deluxe. Maps created by FQM Standard can be used in games using any other mod, or no mod.

The Deluxe Version is better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The Readme comes straight from the source. Go read it, and you will see. I didn't make the Readme for my health, you know. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I'd like the text as well. FQM Deluxe is just too huge for dial-up download -- and it needs the image pack as well? Well, maybe when I get high speed.

If Shrapnel wanted to burn it on a CD, I'd pay for it.

So go look at the readme. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Go to

http://galileo.spaceports.com/~kazharii/

Then, go to the FQM section. Scroll down til you get to the Readme section, then select the FQM Deluxe Readme. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I just got Fyrons QMod deluxe{and the imagepaks} installed yesterday and had time to start a few test games.

It is beautiful! Tons of moons, image mod makes them pretty too, warp points are different too.

All in all, I think it adds a whole new, "WOW!", to exploration. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Where before, the game was basically a strategic war game, and it still is, now, at least for me while this is all new, each warp point, each quadrant, each planet and asteriod cluster is a new mystery.

The FQM has made exploration "exciting". Don't even think of using that "ancient race" trait, for a few games anyway, you'll ruin all your fun.

Is it a violation of any rules / copywrite if a forum member burns several of the large mods and collection of ship sets to a CD and send it to someone?

You can burn whatever files you freely (and legally) downloaded from the internet that you want to on to a CD. As long as you don't claim they are your files, or sell them, there is no possible copyright violation. In fact, I would welcome you to burn whatever mods/shipsets you want to a cd and send them to someone. It makes no difference if they download them or get them through snail mail. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

That said, now I'll whine.

1. Different color asteriods clusters?

2. And just found a "Tiny" gas giant...hmmm,...
lol!

No offense intended, just kidding. I haven't played long enough to make any intelligent comments yet, if I'll ever, but the tiny gas giant was a bit of a laugh.

Found a small "Machine" planet. That was cool.

About burning copies of large mods and such.
I see that as a way to help the players with slower download options.
If someone here had access to a burner, they coulld make the copyies and send it to the player.
Just an idea. I would if I could.

Gryphin, About burning copies of large mods and such. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I offered to do this one time. Did not get recieved very well! Maybe because I wanted to recover the cost of CD and postage! Seemed fair to me. *shrug* http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

mlmbd, I do understand if you are broke or have a limited budget riembursment would be important.
If I had a burner I would not mind doing it. My reasons are not entirely altruistic. The person I help today may make the mod I use tommorrow.
