New game on PBW

Observing in some other games I've noticed that a lot of people don't know how to optimize an alliance. So I'm creating a game that'll give everyone the opportunity to learn. Each team will be two players. You'll start with three planets each and there will be overlap so you'll get first contact with your teammate on turn one. I'll have someone from outside the game make the map. Alliances with other teams will be restricted to T&R treaties. You are encouraged to find your own partner and to work together on empire set-up. Any other issues will be handled in the game forum.

Starting resources: 100000
Starting planets: 3
Home planet value: Good
Score display: allied
Technology level: Low
Racial points: 3000
Quadrant type: Custom
Quadrant size: Depends on # of players
Event frequency: None
Event severity: NA
Technology cost: Medium
Victory conditions: Last alliance standing
Maximum units: Max
Maximum ships: Max
Computer players: None
Computer difficulty: None
Computer player bonus: None
Neutral empires: No
Other game settings: No intel

Edit: Stock 1.84

Thanks for pointing that out, edited to fix the oversight.

All my turns are up to date, unless I'm in a game I don't know about! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I love these types of games. Too bad I'm a bit busy right now.

Certainly reminds me of "Duplicity 2" a while back on PBW. Loads of fun, and I learned a tremendous amount. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I am disappointed that you are not enabling intel. Many players are not incredibly thrilled with the intel model, but it is a part of the game and a serious component when dealing with teams and players.

In fact, in Duplicity 2, it was through the use of intel that the most dangerous (and #1 ranked)religious player was toppled.

Well Stone Mill, I'm the kind of host that looks at the settings as flexible until the game starts. If enough players want intel then I'll enable it. I'm just trying to set up a fun game for everyone. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

can we choose our teammates before the game ?

Or is it random ?

Choose before. That way you can work with each other on race design and such.

This gives us four. C'mon folks, isn't anybody interested? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Hey Geo, If we can drum up enough interest (lol at this point http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) maybe we could have a KOTH pairs league.

I am interested in joining.

I was in the process of starting a cooperative game for the purpose of learning when I stumbled on this game at PBW.

I have been playing single player for a while and have played 3 or 4 multiplayer games.

Enough to know that I still have a good deal to learn.

I'll select one of the slots on PBW and Nodachi can let me know if I'm acceptable http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I see it's been a while since anyone's posted here, but if the motion is still on the floor, I'd be in if someone would be bold enough to ally w/ me. This would be my first MP game, though, so I'd need someone who'd be willing to coach me along a li'l. My SEIV gold should be here tomorrow or the next day (does 2nd day air count the day shipped?) (YAY!).
