I wanted to say thank you for what you both did in the Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies thread.
The way you guys organized it is fantastic and very user oriented.
It is important, at least to me, that people who would go to the length that you both have gone to help the players of this fine game, to sort out that amazing mass of information in that and other threads, strongly deserver a thank you. So again, thank you both.

Well said. I don't consider myself a newbie so I never look at the faq, but I had a look after reading Atrocities' post and was astounded by the quantity and quality of the content.

Well, when it comes to organizing Slick has really done most of the work.
He has an organizatorial nack.
And as newbie, starting the FAQ is a survivability project for my PBW games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
But still. Good comments as these are always welcome as they make one feel warm inside, I thank you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Thanks, guys, always nice to be appreciated. Like Ruatha, I was creating my own personal text file of "good to know" stuff that I got mostly from the forums and from the "Dubious Strategy Guide", which is also excellent. I haven't been able to find an updated DSG, though, I think my file is from 2001. Anyways, when I saw the FAQ starting up, I dumped all of my notes into it. From an organizational standpoint, I look at technical stuff all day so, I took the format style I am used to. When the file size began to get a little large, I simply made a structure that covered everything I could think of so that topics could be easily found and future input could be easily placed.
It is really a community effort and I urge people to continue to find errors and/or omissions so that it can get better. When I look through it, there are still lots of areas that could be explained better. The vision is that someone could buy the game, read the included manuals and the FAQ and very quickly be on par with an intermediate level player. The FAQ won't give you experience, but the goal is to save the newbie some frustrating time on the learning curve.
Thanks again for the kind words!
Slick.

Slick please forgive me for not originally including you in this. I sincerely apologize for my omition, and want you to know how deeply I appreciate what you have done. Whenever I am asked, and I am asked often, how to do something, or why does this work, I send them to the Newbie thread. Your efforts along with everyone elses in that thread and many more, have given the players, both new and old, a tremendous resource to use.
I would hope that someone would convert it to an HTML doc and make it look like the Malfador site, and ask Aaron to post it there. The information is that valuable.
Again, thank you, Ruatha, and all the others who have contributed to that thread and the futherment of gaming knowledge here at these forums.

I've received an e-mail with a MS Word Version of the FAQ. Really nice with the contents in a frame on the left and the text in a frame on the right. So you can click on th econtents and then view the text on the right.
I don't know Dustin's nick so I can't tell if it's someone regular on the forum who has made it.
We are looking for somewhere to upload it, not as a zip file but as it is, viewwable.
But i won't be updating that Version, OI'll leave that to Dustin.

Atrocities<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No apology necessary. Thanks for the kind words. Your contributions to the FAQ have been both numerous and informative. You are a scholar and a gentleman. It really is a community effort and all contributors are to be thanked.
Whatever it mutates into, I would like it to be easily updatable. New info and discussions happen constantly and updates can be frequent. As an old timer, I kinda like the idea of a FAQ in a text file, but I guess I need to keep up with the times.
Slick. edit: <--- originally spelled it Sick. hahaha.

With the FAQ being a text file it would be easy to make it into a HTML file. It'd take a couple hours to set up all the links and so forth to begin with. But once that is done it would only take but a few minutes to update certain sections. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
