I played the demo of SEIV Gold just today and I want to cry a lot with happiness. Now, I would like to know if it's possible to purchase this fabulous game in a download format and not just order a CD. I might have some trouble shipping the CD to where I am, and I'm dying to play more than 100 lousy turns with nerfed technology http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Anyone?

Unfortunately for you I believe a CD is the only way.

I don't think there is a download option. Did you look around the Shrapnel store a bit? Dungeon Odyssey has a download option, so they might have added one for SE4 Gold recently.

It doesn't appear that there is a download option.
This depresses me greatly.

Hi knightsaber.
Soon you will ask idiot questions, like "why can't my new colony build anything ?" or "what must I do with a ship to have it repaired".
Take a look at the FAQ newbie thread, on top of the forum, it's quite useful.
You can also have a look at my site, if you want to see how hard SE IV fans have been working during the Last two years, in terms of custom races...

That's possible, but my mission right now is to find the game in a legal manner http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Right now, I'm certainly not in a position to have the CD delivered.

Maybe you could have it delivered to a friend's house? Or maybe to a P.O. box?

Actually I'm in a desert that you've probably very recently seen on television.
But, I'm not doing what you see on television http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
So if you think about it, no one knowing where exactly I'm located is a very wise thing.
I suppose I'll just have to wait and hope. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

It might be amazing, but I really want the game for the downtime I have...really really really want.

Get it delivered to a city near where you are that allows such deliveries and pick it up.

I may, or, I'll have to play MoO3 until I get home.

No Fyron, you of all people know that we hear at this forum would never dis on such a wonderful game as MOO3. I mean afterall, it is an inferior product with poor support and horrible game play. It would not be becoming of us to mention that SEIV is a vastly superior game on every level compared to that POS Masters Of Orion 3 game. With all of the support and fan base that SEIV has developed in the Last 2.5 years, it is no wonder that we have such high expectations for games that promis to be the best 4 X game ever released. (I think someone at QS was smoking the pipe when they posted that message.)
However, as I have said, there are far worse things in life than being forced to play a POS game such as MOO3, you could be stuck in the desert and have to play it. See, there are worse things.
*EDIT*
Oh man, Dude you have my sincere sympathy if that is the situation. Best of luck to you, and I hope God has your back.

Heh I actually like MOO3 for what that's worth.
I just like SEIV a lot more. I don't think that should start...well...a 'conflict'. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I'm asking around, some guys here have a bunch of games, because what we do is 24/7 and can be pretty boring.

So, now, I don't mean to exploit you or anything, or start a political debate, but I'd honestly like to know - do you guys really WANT us to come and kick out Saddam Hussein? As you may know, the rest of the world is basically arguing about what you all want - the pro-war propaganda people say you do, and the anti-war propaganda people say we shouldn't meddle and kill you folks in the process, and nobody knows which side to believe. I'm curious as to what in the heck you all actually do want! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Hang around here long enough and you will become an old idiot, just like us=-)
KS, get the game delivered to your home in the US and add one more to the reasons why you'd want to get the hell out of that particular desert.
Here's hoping for a quick resolution so that KS can get home and play se4 properly.

Well I just read in The Times about logistic problems and they mentioned that supply service does deliver mail to troops. Can't you order to you home address and ask your people to put CD into envelope ?

Knightsaber - Have you tried contacting Shrapnel and/or Aaron directly with an email stating your problem? If anyone can really help you out getting it without having it mailed, it would be them.

KS, if your not doing what we see on the TV, and your just sitting around. Are you a relief worker? An oil man? An Evangelist?

Crude timing ! Can we all guys imagine getting Moo3 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif , send to a desert for an undisclosed amount of time , and a week later taint with a SEIV demo with no delivery option !! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
It might be classified as a breach of Geneva Convention !

Woo hoo!
With all the ah, excitement going on around here, I almost totally forgot that my Army tour of duty was over Monday. I figured they would make me stay (obviously), but I got honorable discharge papers and I'm getting back to the USA on Wednesday!!!
Sweet!
Game is ordered and will be waiting! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
