I'm playing a Devnull game and noticed that my populations are not growing at all. Even my Jubilent homeworld has 0% growth. My race has their reproduction rate reduced, but only 10%.

Are there ways to cause population growth in Devnull? Surely I'm not stuck with just my homeworld's population for the entire game?

Hmm. My environmental resistance is rather low. Could that be affecting it?

It sounds like you are, reproduction penalties can hit verrry hard. The environmental resist penalty hurts you too.

You might be able to save yourself in that game by researching planet utilization to get Conditions Modification Facilities. If the planet is already at Optimal though, you are screwed. Also if by any chance you're an organic race, build Medical Labs and eventually Replicant Facilities. Devnull might even have a non organic Version of either, I can't remember for sure.

If all else fails, you can 'harvest' alien populations by capturing colony ships, transports and planets, then shipping the people home.

I guess my main question is "Is Devnull Mod's population growth different than the standard game?".

I have almsot the smae racial settings in a standard game and am getting 2% growth on my homeworld.

You could check settings.txt, and look for the "Empire Starting Percent Reproduction" setting.

Normally it is set to 10
If you have -9% to reproduction, you subtract and are left with 1%.

If you have taken a negative to environmental resistance, you get -1% repro per 5% taken out.

If your base reproduction rate is zero, your pop can never grow without artificial assistance.
