Don't say I didn't warn you. Warning: Scientific Evidence shows Freefall is addictive and can have side effects including:

-abdominal pain
-sudden coughing
-liquid splattered monitors (see sudden coughing)
and
facial muscle strain

Other side effects were generally mild and similar to sugar pill.

my name comes from an actual episode of pinky and the brain, where brain causes an evil superintelligent computer to explode by asking it for the definition of narf. i picked it for my name becuase when i registered, i was waiting for #3 in that story arc. but if it's annoying, i'll change it.

David E. Gervais

Narf, my main eyesore with your login name is not the name itself per say, but that length. When you post a new topic your name takes up 2 lines of space.

Don't change your name just because of me. You are not the only person with a long name and you won't be the Last. I'll get used to it soon enough, and as you can see by how I started this post, I have shortened it to simply Narf! Consider this my new nick-name for you! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Narf said I said he said you said something of note. But I can't remember it for the life of me! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

David, I'm guessing you're using 800x600 resolution? Cause with my, I'm running 1024x768 and his name is one line. And it is only slightly longer then yours. Not by much, maybe 4 letters or so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Just an observation.

I'm too scared to try Version 2 of the most annoying web page. Version 1 was really annoying, so Version 2 must be even more annoying! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Hmm, maybe I'll go to somebody else's computer and put it on that web page, and then walk away. And see how long it takes them to get rid of it...

Harf's post takes up 2 lines because the BOOM part of his name is wrapped to the second line. I suspect it's the 'Caps' that are causing this. There is a thread by 'General Woundwort' that fits snugly in the space allowed.

What text size are you using on Explorer?

I'm using 1024 x 768 pixels. Narf poit chez BOOM takes up two lines for me, even on full screen mode. I was using medium text size But if I change the text size to "smaller", it fits on one line.

I use 1152x864, but NEVER have the window maximized, so his name is a two-liner for me too.
(I've got the #SE4 on gamesnet.net IRC channel in the background amongst other things)

Not that I even noticed until you brought it up.

I'd like to give out free advice, to anyone who's thinking about starting a webcomic.

1: Do not use your own handwriting unless you get consistant compliments. *Big Problem. I don't know how many webcomics I've had to drop because, although they were good, or even great, I couldn't read some of the text or found it an eyestrain too.*

2: If you cannot meet #1, then at least a 10-point font, and get a friend to read any non-standard font to check for readability. *Font types aren't so much of a problem, but 8 or 6 point fonts can be as much of a problem as messy handwriting. Also, check to see if your server reduces image size. I don't know if you can do anything to get the larger image shown, but you could plan your comic around a smaller image size.*

3: Update regularly. Do not take unexplained, two month hiatuses. This means me.

4: And while I'm complaining here, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif check your text for contrast with the background. That can mess up readability too.
