It works, but I have to reduce the size of the preview pictures, to increase loading speed.

Lots of work have been done with Andres during the past days on this list, but I don't think it's enough.

First, I hope that shipset authors, will have a look the entries of the list dealing with their own races, to see if any information, link or picture is missing.
I would like every shipset ever made to appear here.

operation "saving the shipsets" :

My goal is to make available all races ever created for the game, even those who have disapeared on dead sites, or have been forgotten at the bottom of a forum.

Some races have to be found and saved in priority. It's the races stored on old SGIF scenario (which are going to be erased sooner or later), race with no link known (because of dead sites) and many shipsets once hosted on Usy, and now unavailable on the new Version of the site (what I call the "Usy genocide").

Perhaps some of SE IV sites owner will be interested in creating hosted race pages, just like me on SOTAS, where these creations will be stored. Just let me know what shipset do you wish to host, I'll make the updates daily.

I'll post here what races I'm unable to find, sure there is enough races collectors around here to provide them...

Of course, for every shipset published on a site, an authorization has to be asked to the author first(if this one is known...).

SE IV Players can easily correct AI files, and I think artwork is more important than AI files, and have to be saved, anyway.

Might I make a suggestion: Use thes tandard SEIV view: Battlecruiser and Race Portrait?

And I have the Forchian empire on my harddrive, if you would like it.

Have you thought abour arranging them by creator? Or maybe by empire name?

I had tried to avoid PBW shipsets such as the ALTAIR described as "Federal Union from Hadrian Aventine, with custom race portrait and flags. No AI files." since I don't consider them shipsets on their own right. But I gess that it's OK if such description is present.

I was also wondering if such races should be on the list. I've decided to put them only for info, in the case someone asks himself "But what is this Altair race on PBW ?". It's a way to tell : It exists, but it's a modified Version of an old race". A way to clarify things in fact.

That color scheme for the links on the page, well, sucks. The colors do not go well together, and they definitely do not look good with the rest of the colors on the site. I suggest getting rid of the maroon-ish background. Just yellow underlined text for the links sets them off enough from the rest of the text to make them immediately identifiable as links.

Also, the SOTAS preview page has an error in it. The mini pic that should be the Medium Troop is instead displaying the mini pic of the Medium Weapons Platform.

Did you say "Forchain" ? I also have it, but I find it... a bit ugly. Maybe on SOTAS,if I've nothing better to do...

list order : I think the race folder name is definitively the best sort. It has to be unique indeed (even if some authors did create shipsets with the same dir name). There's only one order displayed, I've got no database to manage that list !

Raging Deadstar : Goald and akah soon available, thanks. Updated United Colours Empire 2 line.

Captain Kwok : not enough time at the moment to update all shipsets AI that are on SOTAS. (If anyone is interested, I will happy to make the change), I'll try to correct new additions anyway.

Ed Kolis : need more info about your borg set (see form on race dir first page).

Oleg : updated Tlaxcalan link and Manticore.

Manticore should deserve a zip with all files (no truncated Versions). Maybe for the future, as it seems to be still under construction ?

And yes, I will be glad to host a few sets- maybe 2 or 3. I don't have a huge amount of space, but it will be good to use it for a worthwhile cause. Email me the necessary zips and I'll make up pages for them.

Every ship set that has a preview page on SOTAS has the mini medium troop slot loading the mini medium weapons platform instead.

Do you really need a background color for the links? Any extra color is excessive, really.

- It would take me too much time surely the best reason).
- It would be a bit too long to load.
- Cruisers are not always representative of the race look, so I often use an other ship size picture.

Trooper, here is the Skinnie on the races you asked about:

Turian Commonwealth - Actually, this shipset had one really good ship, which is going to become the basis for a completely different shipset.
Galactic Command - Yah, this is the worst shipset ever, I think. It is pretty irrelevant too since its design concept was used for the House Of Aleskander, if you can find an old Version he gave me credit for the idea in the files.
Lyosion Empire - Actually, this one had potential, I just need to redo it sometime.
Zykonian Armada - This one is fine, I still use it and it is available on my webpage. There are numerous other shipsets on my website.

Yah, the Pyrochette was one of the first, along with the Forchian and my original turians. They were all released pre-SEIV on the old SEc (Space Empires IV Center) forums.

I couldn't find the Sol Coalition or Bob from your links (seems TerranC edited away the file links, why I am not sure). They are on PBW though. Pathfinder updated the Vorlon set, its in the mod download section. Zanthu Federation is by Darkshado.

Have you thought about hosting the Last of the SGIF(old section) ones. Fractal, Flash, Ming, etc?

Did you update the Kuat link on the sotas link page as well?

Galactic command : according to author and to what I've seen, it's not a worthy set. I've got in project to make a full neostandard race with it, with another race portrait.

Lyoson : ZA told he was thinking of making a new Version of that old set.

Simple but hard-to-do...
There are about 300 races, and few of them have a Version info when put on the web. When I see a Version number, I usually add it as an info, but it's not the standard. Only authors could give me that info on their races, it would be far too long to check by myself.

As far as I know, only Atrocities put a compatibility information on all his races. My own race have all been made for SE IV gold, and all the races I host on SOTAS have been upgraded to gold too.

lots of races have been made before gold Version, and at this time, there was no compatibility pb, so authors were not used to put the SE Version associated to their files.

They are on PBW, but someone uploaded a different shipset with the same name. So you have to show all Versions then download turian comwealth v1. I actually think this set looks pretty cool.

I made the change in the racedir with the infos you've provided.

Juprup seems to be the same race as the spoogy shipset. Only the escort is different. Don't know which one is a copy of the other.

Keelan is a race I didn't know about, thanks for the info.

Good question, and one that probably deserves its own thread. I'm afraid I can't give you a particularly good answer.

I can tell you that the amount of work will vary hugely from mod to mod, and that in some cases it is possible to run a small patching program to make an AI compatible. To make it compatible and competitive in most mods will require considerably more work again.

There are two Versions of the cytherian race. The one on USY could be a beta or something as the weapons platforms don't look as well done. I have a Version off SE.org and it's more brown! Thats the one listed in the Race Directory, but it links to the CytherianPeuan race which is more white.

Hi everyone.

As trooper knows I have been building up one site to hold every known race. On Friday 240 ships will be available for download from one location. ( All zipped with no preview , do not have the space , to see the complete ship preview you will have to travel to the authors orginial site or SOTAS ) A SEIV Shipset mirror site is my goal.

This site will also be a image mod mirror and a mod mirror site for any mods that need hosted. Basically if its a file and its associated with seiv. Well its going to be there for downloading.
And for those who would like to toss some stuff up but do not have the website. Well thats available as well.

It is my way of saying thankyou to everyone.

Updated the revised Addisian to 1.9, I also made the Star Empire of Romii a Gold race (finally), with drones, updated construction queues and such.
I wrote a brand new AI for the Infernal Realm that was using an ugly stock one.

So the Updated races were:

Addisian 1.9
Infernal Realm 1.1
Star Empire of Romii 2.2
