I'm potentially a MOO3 refugee, but was surprised by the $75+ price when ordering Online (i.e. shipping almost same price as the game). A deciding factor would be whether multiplayer tactical combat for TCP/IP has been added in the gold Version or via patch. Searched the forum and website, but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks.

Tactical combat is only practical in hotseat play.
Even then, with more than 2 human players it gets quickly out of hand.

The TCP/IP play mode is similar to PBW, except SE4 runs continuously and the turns are transferred automatically.

$75? What country are you in? If you are in the UK, there is a local distributor. Directly from Shrapnel in the US is $39.99+$7.28 for Ground shipping to my zip code. Maybe with overnight shipping it might be $75.00.

I have never used TCP/IP play with this game. The game is bested played using a hosting website: See www.pbw.cc. (http://www.pbw.cc.) PBW will run all the turns and destribute them when the Last player uploads his turn. Unless you are playing a tiny universe, it is not practicle to play the game in one session. Large empires can take up to an hour to run a turn (depending on your level of micromanagement).

Thanks for the feedback. I'll recheck the on-line order and see if it was operator error selecting the shipping method.
