View Full Version : My first ringworld!

In an not mentioned here PBW game that just reached turn 100 (Name starts with Net and is a lot of work) I just constructed my first ringworld, now I must colonize it.
I belive that there isn't much use in starting to construct Monolith facilities on it as I've done on my other planets.
So a space yard 3, Robotoid factory 3 (Already got systemic 3) and alot of mineral miner facility 3:s, is that the best I can make on it?
Or is there any good ideas on how to develop a ring world?
I have a starbase at it that can build weapon platforms.

(besides of this ringworld I'm really weak so don't start seeing me as the Mega-Evil empire and attacking me. We are a really nice species if you get to know us instead of kill us!!)

I always put my system wide facilities on my ring or sphere worlds as well. You get much better defense on them than on even the best normal world.

But pretty much it is just a matter of building lots of all the normal stuff.

Yeah, fill 'er up with regular miners, and a robotoid fifth down the line before continuing to build miners (and the occasional farm and rad extractor)

Once you've got 99 facility slots filled, you can start building the monoliths to optimize production.
I'd reccommend having that starbase build a whole slew of spaceyard bases, and then have them all pump out platforms like there's no tomorrow.
Make satellites and fighters when the ringworld gets full http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

unless it's changed in gold,
ordinary miners - 1000
monoliths - 900 each
3 of each OM - 3000 min 3000 org 3000 rad. tot 9000
9 mon - 8100 min 8100 org 8100 rad. tot 24300
divide monoliths by 2-3 depending on your construction for fast gain - 9000/12150 or 9000/8100
so, unless it's going to take 3 or more turns to build a monolith and you need the resources now, go for the monolith.

Narf......
Unless you have very high bonuses it will take 3 turns to build a monolith, while Mineral III's can be built in 1 turn (with a shipyard).
Since the game probably will be over before you have filled up the ringworld anyway (100 + turns), it's better to go with miners only.
But I would add a Value improvement plant (or two) as soon as possible.

Oh yah. And if you plan on building more than 1 ringworld make sure to save the queue so you don't have to manually enter all those again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

yeah, your right. but i like construction bonuses, so for me the monolith is better. i used to like the pop bonuses, but get a few 8000 worlds and you don't need that.

Yah. I ussually do monoliths on my ringworlds... but then I normally go for temporal with almost full construction bonuses. Makes for an interesting race specially early game when you have to NOT build as fast as you can or you run outa resources. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I usually build nothing but Monoliths once I have Stellar Manipulation 3. They are much much more productive than normal miners.

Well, R. , a ringworld. Isn't that the "kat's" meow! I hope no one "wanders" by looking to have it for his own meow. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
