View Full Version : Moving drones: a bug or feature?

I ran some tests with drones today and noticed a strange thing:
1. select drone
2. press A (give attack order)
3. press on any warp point.
4. press V (view orders). You should see smth like 'Move to XXX cordinates (X,Y); Warp'

This way drone will move to the warppoint and warp to it, though there are no enemy units/ships in both sides of the warp. In other words, drones 'think' that all warps are hostile.

I haven't tested it in simul, but it works in single player for sure!

This is most definetly a feature. It was added in a recent patch after much wailing and gnashing of teeth among the general population that drones should be able to used for scouting or warp point assaults. MM decided he still didn't want to give drones a true "move to" order, but added the ability to target a warp point with an attack order as a compromise. It's in the history.txt file.

I didn't know this is feature. Thanks. It makes drones much more useful.

Might be included into FAQ, BTW.

Yep. Unfortunately though, if you try to do this in Simultaneous Movement games with a whole group of drones, they will only go through one at a time, with a gap of several days in between each warping.
