Hello people, yep its yet another post by me regarding traits. what now is, im curious to see how other people use racial traits.

i tend to favor crystallurgy or organic manip but im looking forward to try another trait in my next PBW game.

Anyone with useful ways of using the traits, any? i know of some basic stuff for religious and so on, but i mean something more interesting?

For example a BattleShip loaded with like 15 crystalline armors is almost immune to any damage, provided the shield gen's are intact. anyone else? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Temporal Organic is a nice combo...

But I think Crystal - Psychic would make for a nasty combo... Natually you would play Gas Meth...

Ha Ha....

well tesco im all against combos myself, just plain not for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

as for gas, once again im principally against playing gas myself - i like ice/co2 or rock/methane or rock/co2 or ice/methane http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

and yes, all combos are powerful. crys/organic shouldnt be too powerful because they're basicly counters - but temp/crys should be because of the shield accelerator.

If you can manage it:

Advanced Storage Techniques + Hardy Industrialists + Natural Merchants + High maintenance trait + (optional) Temporal Technology + (optional) high reproduction/tolerance

For added effect, choose gas as your planet type. Your larger worlds will be capable of insane rates of production (and just imagine ring and sphere worlds), and you can get instant benefits from your colony worlds. With reduced maintenance, you can maintain larger fleets than your enemies.

Don't do Religious in PBW games. It is IMO the coward's way out, as the talismans are undeniably unbalanced. And if you don't believe me, go watch battles where I have outnumbered the talisman-equipped enemy _and_ have been many tech levels ahead, and still lost the battle horribly, solely because of the unbalanced talisman. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Your planetary spaceyards will have improved construction from the Hardy Industrialist trait, meanwhile the extra population on the planet from advanced storage techniques will add another bonus, and when you combine that with temporal shipyards, well, it's quite impressive, especially on a huge gas giant. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

"well, it's quite impressive, especially on a huge gas giant."

Just to clear up a misconception many have.. huge is huge. A huge Rock world has the same number of facility slots and population size as a huge Gas world.

And you want a ringworld for max population bonuses anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

With a huge planet, the max goes from 8000 to 9600, which allows the planet to get a 10% higher bonus than normal (if it gets 9000 or more pop on it).

Mind you, it doesn't go up much - 400M extra people on a Medium-sized homeplanet - but it's something.

Which is why I said Ring and not sphere; either one works. Can't get it with a normal planet though.
