Come on now, Fyron's post count accounts for less than 5%(barely) of the total Posts on this forum. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Come on Fyron, you can do better than that! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Hey, that's freaky, they really do rotate... I was expecting something along the lines of a vorpal bunny appearing and an earsplitting shriek being emitted from the speakers... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

That's a neat optical illusion! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Do you see the same thing I see? When I move my head towards the screen, the inner circle turns counter-clockwise and the outer circle turns clockwise. When I move my head away from the screen, the directions reverse. But if I look directly at the diamonds and move my head, it doesn't turn.

It's interesting how the shadow effect affects our depth perception on those diamond shapes. The diamonds near the top of the circles appear to be raised, and the bottom ones appear to be depressed. Somewhere on the sides, there's a transition point where the mind switches its perception from raised to depressed, but as I keep staring at it, that transition point keeps changing. If I turn my head 90 degrees, then whichever side of the circle which is now my "top" looks raised and the "bottom" looks depressed.

You've been tricked by one too many link in the past Ed. I'd never post such a tricky link. Or would I... hmm...

If you stare at a point halfway between the dot in the center and the right side of the circles and move your head, it looks really funny. The left sides of the circles seem to rotate, but the right sides don't! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Odd. They rotate when I move head back and forth.
But they don't when I grab monitor and push it and pull. May be because I could not make it drink as much beer as me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I must be wired wierd. I don't see rotation. Instead I see wave motion circling around.

EDIT: Oh wait. I hadn't followed the directions. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I wasn't moving my head. Now I see it. Does anyone else see the wave motion when you are holding still. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Geoschmo<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Man, I see all kinds of stuff when I hold real still.

But seriously, seeing a waving motion when you are stationary is a sign that you are dehydrated. Not dangerously dehydrated, but dehydrated none the less.

I'm going to use that big word one more time. Caffeine, nicotine, other stimulants and antihistamines will all cause you to become dehydrated.

Actually there's only one source of dehydration: lack of water.
All those things can make you develop sympthoms (sp?), such as peeing or sweating too much or diarrea that will make you lose more water than what you drink.

Jack, do you think I don't make as many typos in my mother tonge. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Those things lead to a lack of sufficient levels of water, which causes dehydration. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

A lack of water does not cause dehydration, it is dehydration. A lack of water could cause a person to be diagnosed with dehydration, but I'm awfully sure dehydration is the name for a lack of water, not the result of a lack of water.

Note: latex paint causes dehydration.

Fyron

Dehydration is an extended lack of sufficient levels of water. You can become dehydrated while drinking very small amounts of water. Or while drinking sea water, which is indeed water, but the salt content makes it very very bad for humans. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

That's what I telling you ! You guys pee too much. Certainly. Keep it tight and you will be alright next morning even after the 0.45L C2H5OH stimulation.

although i've heard that you can drink sea water in very small quantities in an emergency.

Oleg, holding in urine for extended periods of time causes more problems than urinating too often (which really is not a problem, just drink more water and no adverse effects will be felt). Bacteria grow and multiply in urine, and if you keep it in there too long, you run the risks of getting some nasty infections.

When you begin to deyhdrate, the first thing your body does is try to hold the liquid in. So dehydrated people do not pee.

Incidentally, that's why drunk people smell so bad - alcohol inhibits your kidneys, but your body still needs to get rid of its urea, so it eliminates a part of it through the sweat glands - yes, very drunk people literally begin to sweat urine.

I just think I'll go and have a shower now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Um, no, I got it wrong. (Dammit Jim, I'm an engineer, not a doctor !) Yes, alcohol will make your kidneys work overtime, so you will lose too much liquid and become dehydrated (that's what a hangover is, really - mild dehydration, so drink plenty of water before going to sleep and you'll avoid the worst of it).

Once you are dehydrated, your body stops eliminating liquid, but it must eliminate urea and so on and so forth.
