Hi, a friend of mine any myself are looking for about 2, 3 or more SE IV players to start a Multiplayer simultaneous game. We're moderate SE IV players... nothing too fanatic, we play for fun... If anyone is interested please REPLY and e-mail me. (We're really looking forward to playing against other people, so far we only played against each other and the AI ... if u wanna call it that:)

Some questions people will probably ask:
1) Have you created a forum for the game on PBW yet, and what is the name of this game?
2) What Version of SE4 are you using (Gold patch 3?)
3) Are you using any mods?
4) What are the settings for this game.
5) What is the turn timelimit?

nice that u told me about the pbw system... the links on the SE Iv page are so confusing.... they really tried hard to hide it:) I'll look into it.... just one question... the PBW manual says it only supports Versions up to 1.78 ... but I downloaded the 1.84.. is the PBW faq outdated or do I need to downgrade my SE IV

It will supporst 1.84 and any mod out there. If it doesn't support the mod then ask Geo and he can change that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

With that set as it is the game could end as early as turn 4.0 (40 turns) of the game start unless there is some early fighting. If all empires are spaced just right it could be 10 turns or so before you meet in the game, and then alot of people start off peaceful so as to build up their empire and economy. So an early end to this game could come about rather easily.
Just something I thought of. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif But as I said, I'm sure you're well aware of this already.

actually I have thought of that... the thing is that u didn't read the game stats carefully... we hav a small galaxy, 6 players and a medium number of hard computers... it's next to i possible that these computers won't declare war on someone or between each other in the first 40 ticks... believe me. but thatks for the input

Small galaxy slipped by me. For some reason I was thinking it was a Medium galaxy.

I would recommend dropping the AI players in a PBW game - 6 players in a small galaxy is quite fine. The AI players can be taken advantage of too easily in terms of trade etc., and that might create an imbalance in the game that will become a sore spot for other players.

and you have to have comm-channels with a NA treaty or better, to count as peace. empires out of communication with each other stop victory from occuring, wich can be a pain if a defeated empire has some mine or sat cloaked somewhere that prevents them from being destroyed, but keeps them out of contact.
and welcome to the community! always good to have new players!

if you need to, two players can declare war and then peace.

Only ONE player is needed to declare a war http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Two are needed to get peace though, so what Narf said is technically correct. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

So? If you declare war on anyone, the timer doesn't start again until peace is re-established. So as long as one person wants war, the game goes on.
