When I try to add systems manually using the map editor under FQM Deluxe and the B5 Mod, I get an error message saying "Unable to insert a line" and get nothing under the physical type list, thus unable to add systems.
What should I do?

Use the MOD Launcher program to open the map editor.
1. Select the mod
2. Click Edit Maps
This should help if you have not tried it already.

What should I do?<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As relates to Se4 Map editor; not any givin Mod.
Se4 Map editor may start to become Problematic when Maximum Number Of Systems become higher then 115 systems.
Mod/Data/Settings.txt
Maximum Number Of Systems := 114
However, this entry will have no error bearing on the in game map generator. Any existing (MOD) entry up to, but no more then 255 systems, will generate the maps of that designers intents.
I my self like this setting high at times. But will reset it, to the Mods Default setting, to play the MODs predesigned maps http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Actually I have no problem with the map editor and system name files with 255 and more names. I do get the error you are describing if the system name file has any blank lines in it. Particularly look at thte end of the file.

The map editor can and will produce errors, especially with mods, when the # of systems are too high and a galaxy setting other than mid-life is used.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't do a thing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif but thanks to your ideas, I found the error! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
The reason why the Map Editor couldn't add systems is because the Systemnames lists I used weren't alphabetized.
When I switched my un-alphabetized systemnames list that I use for all my mods with an alphabetized systemnames list from the Devnull Mod (The only one that succeeded in adding systems manually), the error was gone!
That leaves only one question:
Does anybody know a software that organizes words alphabetically?

MS Word does that. Put them in a table, and sort it. Then take them out of the table.

Actualy you don't need to put them in a table at all. Word will sorth them with no more than a list. it will also sort tabbed collums.
Excell (and I expect most spread sheets will sort collums.
Databases will.

I have this very same problem, unfortuantly I have a very large system names file and microsoft word won't alphabetically list them if there are two many, something about program limitations! Typical Microsoft, i don't mind windows but when it interferes with space empires they're on dangerous territory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Of course it could just be my computer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
