View Full Version : Aaron I want my money back!

Atrocities

You read it right, I want my money for this game! No where is it written in the manual or does it say that it would be an addictive life altering diVersion from reality.

There were no warning lables telling me that I would be helplessly sucked into the game for hours, sometimes days on in.

Where on the CD or in the game manual does it list the side effects of playing the game? I did not see anything telling me that I would suffor from "just one more turn" syndrom, forum addiction, and other 4x game illurgic reactions!

I want my money back because I need it to pre-order for the Star Fury! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Also where was it written that SE IV would suck up my free time like a super massive black hole? I often wonder how many poeple have lost their jobs because of this game and the "just one more turn" syndrom?

Oh ya, one other side effect of playing this game aside from Forum Addiction, is that it compels me to write stories and make ship sets. It is spooky!

Taz you are sooooooooooooo right about that! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Aaron could market SE V as "The first 4x game that will cost you your job, wife, life, and reality."

Hence he should name SE V Space Empires V; Atrocities. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Not to mention physical injury... Too much mouse work during endless 'just one more turn' nights can leave one with serious RSI (Repetitive SEIV injury) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Reasons to ask for your money back:

1. Space Empire Addiction Syndrom (SEAS)
2. Repetative Space Empires Injury (RSEI)
3. SE IV Forum Addiction
4. The Game sucks up all your free time
5. Stimulates ones imagination and creative writing
6. Will ruin your eye sight (Starring at monitor all night long.)
7. "Just One More Click" syndrom (JOMC)
8. It will become your reality
9. My cause you to loose your job, wife, and life.
10. So you can save up and buy SE V.

I can honestly say that next to Rebellion, and BOTF, SE IV has proven to be one of the most addictive 4x games that I have ever boughten. The money I spent on this game was so small compared to the many enjoying hours of game play, modding, ship making, discussion, etc. that it has given me.

You know, I have actually read some developer comparing their games to movies... In average cost per hour of play... and concluding that the game was moderately better than the movie in terms of price.

If I assume only an hour a day, over the years...
SE4 is roughly $0.08 per hour!

Atrocities,

You obviously have some marketing talent. That is quite a hook to attract people into this thread... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

BTW, I couldn't agree more.

It should be called Space Crack IV.

Soon to be followed up by Space Crack V: The game that causes your family to stage an intervention.

SE V: Just Like Chocolate, Minus the Guilt

(well, aside from the guilt you may experience from calling into work "sick" because you stayed up into the wee hours waiting for your sphere world to finish building... not that I've ever done that, mind you... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

Hmmmm, the only game that sparked my wife to intervene was me playing MEDAL OF HONOUR ALLIED ASSAULT at full volume on my surround speakers..

The main reason was that my wife's old German friend was staying over. I cannot stand the German friend and my wife thought me shooting up half of the Wehrmacht was not appropriate hospitality..

Can't understand why, the girl got a bed for the weekend didn't she? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Seriously, it isn't a vice (http://www.vicefund.com) it's a hobby (http://www.scouting.org/). Hobbies are good for you (http://www.cnn.com/2003/HEALTH/conditions/06/19/avoiding.dementia.ap/index.html). You just tell 'em so.

Today is a holiday http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif but my wife says playing games today brings bad luck http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif and going against my wife's advice always brings bad luck http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

So I'm going through SE withdrawal and compensating for it by reading the forum. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

You mean I'm not the only one who's wife has developed a spontaneous eye-roll reflex whenever she hears the words "Space Empires"?

Hello, my name is Jim... and I'm an SEiv addict...

Yeah, i can relate to that. Or how about this one: you played SEIV almost all night long and at work, you have to deal with a lot of problems. While you are solving those, you are thinking about the most efficient way to get that pop transport to Forlon IV with a gas breathing pop and getting the original pop out to place on another planet so both planets gain in efficiency.

Crappy part about this is that you have to wait until you get home to really execute your plans but instead have to deal with these *puny tiny* little problems of the real world. I don't care about the real world, i care about my pop at Forlon IV, do you hear!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

Eh, ok, eh ... yeah. eh bye now.
