I have just got round to installing SEIVG on my new computer BUT when I am playing it, it appears to freeze about evry couple of minutes. It only freezes for a few seconds and things that you type in during the "freezed" period appear on screen..

I am running a 3GB system with 120GB memory and an ATI 9700 Pro graphics card. Does anyone know if this causes problems?

Try turning off animated ship movement. IIRC, it can cause problems on some faster machines.

Thanks for the quick response Fyron. I recall seeing the icon for that so will give it go.

Stupid question maybe but by animated ship movement, I assume this is your ships zipping along their flight paths whenever you give them orders on a non-simulataneous game.

If it is, then I can lose that

PS are you not West Coast America? if so, isn't it 02.11 in the morning over there? do you not need sleep?

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif By all means, drop what you are doing and download the latest patch. There have been LOADS of fixes and improvements from the original gold Version. This will save you a bunch of questions and headaches.

Slick.

havn't tried to download any of the patches yet. I will download the patches and then probably just take on the TDM Modpack, as I love that!

Re a game, yeah, I will let you know when I have the patches installed and we can then do just a game for thee and me.

Fyron, you are obviously a man with too much free time on his hands.

Probably like most of the geriatrics old buggers on this forum, I need my 8 hours kip a night, otherwise, as my wife says, I am a right grumpy s@@t

PS taking off the ship animation didnt work, I wonder if it is something more apparent when SEIVG runs on faster machines. Dunno, will try and dowload the latest patch tonight (and the TDM modpack if I can)

Gt, try turning off the sound under options, CD music etc, I had similiar problem a number of Versions ago, but when i turned off the cd music it was ok, or turn your resolution either up or down, or combination 800x600 etc

and yes there are older, more mature, distinguishing, dashing, suave, geriatric hippie geezers around, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

just some ideas Mac

On my current computer, animated ship movement works fine, BUT if I play music during the game then ship movement becomes 'bumpy', as if I had turned animation off.

My computer does't like SE sound/music at all http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
It becomes very slow after while with sounds on but works perfectly fine in the mute setting.
