I have a moderate fleet of baseships that I'm using to capture planets. I have about 5 different types of baseships including some that have no shields but tons of armor(the are experimental ships).
I've noticed the AI never fires on them instead going after shielded ships.Anyone have any ideas as to why? They have just as heavy of armament as any of the others.
Thanks!

The firing priorities are probably set to "toughest". That means they shoot at the, well, toughest ship first.

In that case maybe I could use one really heavily shield base ship as a decoy and use unshielded ships as the main strike force!
Maybe not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Be slightly careful against a completely different AI player though, because it could have different targeting priorities in its strategies file.

you do realize you just gave me ideas for strategies do you? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Well,I went and made a baseship that only has a couple of heavy weapons on it and tons of shields. The planet went right after that ship. Didn't take it down this time, but it looks like the AI has a thing for heavily shielded ships.

They're probably thinking, "What are you hiding in there?"
