This is odd... One of my fleets was damaged and out of supplies and I was losing money on maintenance, so I set their fleet strategy to kamikaze, trying to solve a few problems at once http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Well, only a few of the ships actually tried to engage the enemy... the rest just moved back and forth in the corner... any idea why this happened? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

It could be the default strategy defined to the ships IF you had the ships break formation.

Even some of my armed ships with "Optimal Firing Range" strategy sat around... of course, maybe their weapons were damaged...

A ship with no supplies can not fire it's weapons. Maybe the ships thought they could not ram because they had no supplies? If so, you may have found a bug.

I've seen this... I think ships out of supply can't move at all. Perhaps some of the ships that were able to move had a fraction of supply left.
I've lost entire fleets like sitting ducks when they lost supply.

Ahah!
You had the fleet set to Kamikaze, but the ships with damaged weapons broke formation, and followed their own orders which involved running away since they have no weapons!
