I've downloaded a couple of you alls mods that I thought I'd try out. However, even after reading the newbie help thread I still can't figure how to make these work. Can someone give me some pointers?
Thanks!

Have you checked out www.malfador.com/se4mods.html (http://www.malfador.com/se4mods.html) yet? It has a section on how to get the mods to work. So does SE4 Modding 101 Tutorial (linked in my sig).

It's a little confusing but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks!

Thanks!<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What exactly do you mean ? You can not make SE load mods ? The best way is ModLauncher - available on you Gold CD. Simply install it into SE directory, install the mod you want play (each mod has a readme.txt for that purpose http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) and then double click on ModLauncher and chose the one you want to play !

Okay,I've just been trying that path.txt file where you change the name of the path from none to the name of the file the mod you want is in.And that hasn't worked for me so far.
I'll look for the modlauncher on my cd now.

The screen will not always be diffrent. Only a handful of mods have added to the intro screen the name of the mod. But for the most part it is the same. I suggest you try to load another mod and then start a game and look to see any new weapons or changes to confirm you are in the mod. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I was trying my desktop PC with Windows ME and the two mods I had downloaded (Adamant & AST) just weren't working. I went and tried it on my laptop with XP and it works fine.(both those two plus some others from the cd).
I'll try it again on my desktop tomorrow morning.

Okay I see what I was doing wrong. I was extracting to a folder I had already made instead of letting them extract to their own folder(that I didn't realize was being made).

You do not have to install mods into the folder they want to go in, actually. That is just a standard folder for ease of use. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif AST will work if you place it in a folder named "Bob", for example.

You will want to make sure you have the Image Mod installed to use those mods.

Making another level of folders with the mod files. And so the mod launcher detected no mod files so it diverted back to default files. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

You can use extra folder layers, actually. Manually editing Path.txt works fine. The Mod Launcher does not detect mods in extra layers of folders, but you can add them manually by using the Add Directory button.
