OT: Fantasy Football League [Archive]

Last year there was a Fantasy Football League that someone (Geo?) set up for members from here to join in. Would any of you be interested in such a deal this year? We'd probably use yahoo's fantasy football unless someone recommends another (better) There might be a limit to number of people allowing a league so I don't know how many could join. (Does anyone know the limit?)

But what do you all think?

Well i play real football here in Belgium. When i say i play American Football, people take a step backwards and look at me in a funny way. Then they say: "Why would you want to play AF if we have football (soccer)".
Ehm. OK.
Anyway, i play indoor soccer too. My thigh muscles are quite trained because of AF and when i play soccer and get a chance to shoot, wow, does that ball take off! Funny to see people dodge when the ball comes their way http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

NarrewI still have plenty of room. I can have a maximum of 20 players. So far we have 7. I will have a draft date for you all later. I will set the league up in about an hour or so.
Edit: Plans changed...I won't have time to set up the league until later tonight. (10PM or later est.)

I will move it to the Last week of August. Then if we wish to move it back to a sooner date we can do so.

I looked at the league setup and it shows that we will be playing 3 QB's, 5 WR, 2RB, 2 TE, K, 2DEF, and have 10 on the bench.

IMHO, This is too many players active and probably too many on the bench too. I don't recall exactly how many we played Last year (will check my files), but I would recommend reducing the active players to 1 QB, 3 WR, 1 TE, and one Def. Does anyone else concur??

Ok, I'm going to get everyones opinion on this. What settings do you think we should use for starting positions? It hasn't really been talked about much so I might as well bring it up before the draft.
I changed it to the following:
1 QB
3 WR
2 RB
2 TE
1 WR/RB
1 WR/TE
1 K
1 DT
8 Bench players.

I am willing to make any changes to that if everyone agrees on settings.

I am willing to make any changes to that if everyone agrees on settings.Given that there are maybe 4 TEs in the NFL with any fantasy value, I would recommend dropping the two TE only positions. That would give you 10 starters, and anyone that wants to play a TE can put one in the WR/TE slot.

I think having 2 RB's with an option for a third gives far too much of an advantage to a team with three strong backs.
As far as TEs, they annoy me. 3 or 4 great ones and then the rest. I like the option to either start one or use a WR instead, since a marginal WR will almost always outscore a good TE.

Given that we are having a live draft and only 8 teams so far, I believe that the rosters should go as suggested by Kodiak - QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 WR/RB, 1 WR/TE, 1 K, 1 DT and 8-10? bench players.
The point made about people starting 3 RBs isn't as valid with a shallow league. 32 NFL teams and 3-4 RBs per fantasy roster = 24-32. If you don't get that 3rd back, you just draft another WR earlier (our league draft 6-7 WR/team, total 48-56, NFL rosters 32 teams x 2-3 = 64-96). I could argue that there are at least 8 decent TE but would rather they be optional as suggested. Absolutely no more than 1 listed as a starter for sure.

Ok, I changed the starting positions finally. It is now as follows:

1 DEF
10 Bench

Is the bench level too high? I put it there so that you can have a backup of every position if so desired, plus 1 extra spot.
