Re: Artillery Guns and Howitzers with direct fire

It depends. During WW2 it was not unusual to use artillery in the antitank role and there were still plenty of smaller caliber weapons (stuff like 25 Pdr or the Zis-3) that were suitable to deal with...

Re: North Korea OOB

Anyway IMHO given the scope of the game there is not much point in trying to add as many aircrafts as possible. The combination of planes and loadouts used by a major power in over 70 years would...

Re: IT-1 Missile Tanks

Well, I suggest waiting until they get actully fielded. The T-95 got killed and even if Armada is produced variants may get the chop due to budgetary constraints as it often happens.

Re: North Korea OOB

The MiG-29 was in the older versions of the OOB but with wrong stats. I recommeded deletion, instead of corrections on the basis of the following:
1) The type is primarily an air defence fighter (I...

Self propelled artillery
Sorting out north korean self propelled tube artillery is a difficult task. Broadly speaking it seems that north Korean self propelled artillery development has taken such...

Re: North Korea OOB

Unit 65 Type 11 APC
1)It should have some basic night vision capabilities, say 15 or 20.
2)Weapon n. 63 7.62mm PKT CMG could be added in slot 2
IR projector is fitted and it appears also that a...

Re: Old RPG problem

Ehm, no. It is an antipersonnel explosive round, not for antitank work.

Re: Old RPG problem

The OG-7V round is available for the RPG-7, it is slighty lighter and a bit less cumbersome than standard HEAT. I don't know how much popular it is but it is certainly used....

Re: Iraqi MBT and APC losses 1991 and 2003

Note that the numbers I posted refer to what is operational (or was the last year). That means basically what was in working conditions or could be made so with limited efforts and was felt to be...

Re: Iraqi MBT and APC losses 1991 and 2003

As far as I can tell it is currently in iraqi army service from the pre 2003 equipment.
1)One hundred of Type 69 and similar.
2)A few tens of T-72 (possibly).
3)Seventy or so MT-LB.
4)Thirty...

Re: Possinle artillery errors

I would recon it is to simulate this (http://www.defense-update.com/products/s/strix.htm), so no mistake at all.

Re: October 1962 Cuba Missile Crises AAR - need some help...

Just a nitpick, 1962 is probably too early Sagger and certainly for Strela. Antiaircraft guns and a mixture of AT guns, recoilless and perhaps the odd Snapper ATGMs will be the norm.

Re: October 1962 Cuba Missile Crises AAR - need some help...

This (http://www.armouredacorn.com /orbatrussian1961.html) should give you an idea of soviet organizations at that point. In regards to the heavies, take your pick, T-10 had been in production for...

Re: North Korea OOB

I have to add in regards to the SA-13 is that while they have appeared only recently I would suspect they were purchased in the late 80’s together with the various Mig-29s, SU-25s etc.

Unit 60...

Re: EW ratings

It is not EW in general of course, more like a (very) crude represantation of the capabilities of the single aircrafts. The Mig-19 (or at least some versions) had a Sirena-2 RWR. Dunno what was the...

Re: Tank Gun Autoloaders & Ready Rounds

It depends on what you mean by "easily". AFAIK the russian do contemplate loading directly from the racks, because...well if anything else the autoloader can fail and then it would be bad to have the...

Re: ATGM's vs Fortifications

I am not a physicst but HEAT does not burn throught armor in the same sense of a thermal lance being applied to a plate (though you can also cut concrete, rock or any bunker grade material that way,...

Re: Tank Gun Autoloaders & Ready Rounds

No, AFAIK at least on the T-XX you can load directly from the racks without refilling the autoloader. It is slow (one round per minute, less with a well trained crew but still slow), awkward and it...

Re: Tank Gun Autoloaders & Ready Rounds

The MGS uses an autoloader, the M8 and the Crusader would have used an autoloader (the latter with no manual backup at all, or so GAO claims) and the FCS too. The Abrams may not use it, for now at...

Re: Tank Gun Autoloaders & Ready Rounds

The game does not really cover this sort of details; in the event ROFs are already less than maximum/burst capability so it is sort of factored in. It should be possible to load spare rounds...

Re: North Korea OOB

Units 42-43 VTT SPAAGs
1)Vision should be reduced to zero.
2)Unit 43 could have its speed increased, say 20 land and 2 water.
They do not appear to be fitted with night vision equipment. Besides...

I included the latter because it seems it is actually closer to icon n. 398 and thus a possible alternative if it is deemed worthwhile.

In light of the recent Korean tensions I have taken a look again at the north Korean OOB and drawn a list of possible changes. Here are the first ones.
