Re: WinSPMBT Supplemental Patch Now Available!

I just installed the patch.

Thanks again to the all involved for a superb game.

I'm curious what are the #s in MOBHack for the new icons and pics.

AIs use of obstacles in Defend

Since the 2.0 patch I've played ~6 assault games vs. the AI in the long campain in the 2010-2015 timeframe and I have not seen a single landmine, strand of barb wire or dragons tooth.

This is...

Re: USMC OOB ?

Ok, so it's a function of cannon size AND rounds per burst. I thought it was something like that but wanted to double check.

It does seem foolish to switch from 25mm to 30mm in the EFV if for...

USMC OOB ?

In the USMC OOB the HE Kill for the 25mm bushmaster (#74 & 75) is 13 while the HE Kill for the 30mm bushmaster on the EFV is 11. Is this correct?

Re: Tactical Rockets

So it would only be for assault missions, like how you only have access to naval gunfire support for beach landing missions.

More UK OOB Errata

The in game stormer HVM carries 12 missles, while according to this MOD site:

http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/aad/aad_shvm.htm

it should have 20 (8 ready in launchers + another 12 inside the...

Re: Marine LAV-AD

Yes its obsolete as a SPAA but as a light infantry support tank it's still quite useful.

I often purchase a couple of sections when playing against masses of infantry.

UK OOB Hughes Chain Gun Queston

Poking around in the UK OOB I noticed that the Hughes chain gun on the Challanger (slot 56) has a HE kill of 8 and is classified as an light gun/autocannon; weapon class 5.

The weapon on the...

Re: Question: Who are the Bad Guys?

I for one would enjoy a few scenarios or a campain from the perspective of the insurgents.

Another idea for a scenarios or campains would be a Revolutionaries ( Castro & Che) vs Batista's...

Re: Whats your opinion on experimental gear in MBT

I would love to see some of this stuff that never made it out of prototype in a "What-if" Mod

Other potential units for the US

AH-56 Cheyenne
MBT-70

Re: Strangest examples of good or bad luck?

Once while playing the Defend Taiwan from China as the USMC campain in the old DOS SP2 I had one of my stinger teams shoot at an air strike and miss, only to have the stinger hit my LAV-25 in the...

Re: What are your most hated \"Gamey\" Tactics

Versus the AI on the defense I often use the flamethrowers or m202 flash rockets as "perma-smoke" against an oppenent lacking TI.

Is this "gamey" or a legit tatic?

Re: Fictional/What If/Parts Bin Units

I know that the minigun is less effective than the M230, but I figure that I can carry far more ammo; if i'm trying to supress infantry to allow my squads to get close not having to fly back to...

Fictional/What If/Parts Bin Units

Using Mobhack I created a few fictional, what-if and “parts bin” variations of real stuff for the US.

Some of my creations:

“Ranger Squad SR”
A super ranger squad with a M82 sniper rifle in...

Re: Use of Guships

I mostly play in the modern era.

IMHO one or two strike elements of Hellfire UAVs are more cost effective that one SEAD strike. Their small size and high EW rating make them devilishly hard to...

Re: Machineguns

In the context of the game when I have my AFVs pop up from behind a hill to engage the enemy I usually turn off of MG. I find I can take more main gun shots before drawing reactive this way.

Re: AT4 and its likes

When I know my squads will face AFVs I usually set their range down to 3-5 hexes and wait for the AFVs to close.

I then turn off the AT weapon, shoot at the AFV with just the LMG 2-3 times and...

Re: Interesting Site: Wheeled vs. Tracked AFV (US

I've read most of Mr. "Gavins" stuff. He views the M113 as the be all, end all uber APC and the Stryker as the Ford Pinto of APCs.

A rational person would acknowledge that there are inherent...

Re: obat66 Sweden

Keep working Backis, the Swedes are already my favorite high tech foe for the long campaign.
