Re: Beer

The supply sergeant for the Kampfguppe has been very good about ensuring a steady supply of Bitburger and Warsteiner. And, the captured Imperial Russian Stouts (Stone Brewery or North Coast Brewery)...

Re: Bug smoke available to destroyed mortar

Chuck,

It would allow you to plot the smoke missions, but would it actually fire?

Thanks, Ross

Re: Moebelwagen & SdKfz 251/1 Rak

And, just notice a similar deal with the Vielfachwerfer in spob16, OB Slot 399, where the Fire Control should be 0 instead of 5.

Thanks, Ross

Moebelwagen & SdKfz 251/1 Rak

While digging around in spob16, I found two items that should be looked at:

unit 175 = Moebelwagen : Weapon Slot 1 should be a weapon 29 - 3.7cm Flak 43 instead of weapon 11 - 3.7cm FlaK 36. ...

Re: Russian infantry guns.

The part above about a minimum range for indirect fire got my attention. I don't see that value as a characteristic set in Mobhack. Is that something automatically calculated? Is it perhaps a...

Re: The sound of the MG 34

Looking at spob16 (Germany) in Mobhack, the majority of the appearances of the the MG-42 have the sound set as 117. So, why is 54.wav in Cross Sounds 1.0 intended for the MG-42? To match up with the...

Re: Speed of M10 GMC (US Army)

In addition to spob012 USA units 016 & 020, there are some other WinSPWW2 OOBs using the M10/Wolverine/Achilles that will need to be taken care of, as well:

spob02 Poland - units 132, 133
spob06...

Re: Early War AAMG's on German Tanks

Fair enough. I hadn't picked up on it before since I normally focus on the '43-'45 timeframe. Over the past couple of weeks, I added Cross Sounds 0.9 and did a unit by unit review of spob16 to...

Early War AAMG's on German Tanks

That was from the thread "Starting core battle points" currently running in the WinSPWW2 root forum page.

Got to ask... what is the basis for some of the early war German tanks having an AAMG? I...

Availability Dates for PzKw IIIn, unit 944

Stumbled on this one: spob016, Unit 944, PzKw IIIn has availability dates of 1/44 to 8/43.

The other varieties of PzKw III's that are in that same unit type of "Infantry Tank" are available until...

Re: Big Map mid size force

Generally I prefer the ratio in favor of more real estate. Both to permit maneuver, and because I tend to focus on Russian Front battles and dealing with the challenge of not having enough of a...

7.5cm PaK 40 L/46

In the German spob016, the 7.5cm PaK40 (Weapon 052) should be L/46 instead of L/48. On the surface, the 2 calibers length difference doesn’t seem like much, but the devil is in the details. Below...

Re: Sound Mod for WinSPMBT

Something I should have added in my previous post to be clearer, the sound files I was comparing are not the ones from Cross Sound 0.7. Those were the games' original files from WinSPWW2 (CD)...

Re: Sound Mod for WinSPMBT

Good timing on this discussion! I've been doing some investigation recently into the sound files and MobHack to better understand why certain weapons have the sounds that they do in the game.

Re: all man, I am getting destroyed here.

I've played around with this scenario a bit, and tried flanking assaults to the right over the bridge, and up the direct route along the water. Not pretty either way. As Andy noted, it's a kill...

Re: Restricting smoke discharger fire

Tim,

If you select a unit, then right click, it presents a unit info screen. Just below the four line items of weapons, you have the line for Smoke Ammo. It will have a number of 0 or greater,...

Re: Minor German OOB error

Yes, a block-style mantlet was produced with a coaxial MG for the mid-production StuG III Ausf G and was introduced in June '44. And a Saukopfblend with coaxial MG was introduced in Oct '44 on the...

Thanks for the clarification on the scenario specific edits.

Re: Stug AAMG\'s???

Fuel for the discussion on both the AAMG and the Finnish StuG with a coaxial MG:

Looking in "Sturm & Drang No.2, StuG III", Japan, 1990, pages 88-89 have three photos of a StuG III Ausf G with a...

I had little clue what was in store for me in 1977 when I pre-ordered a copy of Squad Leader from Avalon Hill and got this purple box full of goodies. Wargames at that squad level have captivated me...

From what I'm seeing in gameplay and not from understanding the code behind it, I would agree that it appears the spotter that calls it controls it. It also seems that another spotter can "take...

I’m trying to better understand how the game handles Artillery Spotters, and in particular, when you have multiple spotters on one side in a scenario. As an example, in scenario 013 “Counterattack...

Re: German armoured engineer vehicles

The 251/rak is definitely a retrofit kit that could be added to a SdKfz 251 model A, B, C, or D. Per Gander, "the Schweres Wurfrahmen 40 [SWR 40] was designed by the J.Gast KG. of Berlin-Lichtenberg...
