Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

I thought I'd just give a quick example of how I do research for the ORBAT. For now, I'll just focus on tanks, which was a popular theme early on in the war. As I was watching the war on interfax.ru,...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Well I agree with you, and I think most do as well, judging by their silence. And now we can easily compute the totals for the Georgian Arty Bn. We know that it had 371 men, 18 D-30, 12 120mm mortars...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Thank you :D

That was an oversight. I was actually wondering what to do with the Georgian 120mm mortar. 12 would be scaled down to 1, but I am able to get everything else to operational strength....

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Sorry about not posting this earlier, RL was really insane, but since Monday, I'm on a three week break. Don't know if I'll be gone for one of these three weeks on a field trip or not, but I managed...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

I'm a bit confused as to the actual layout of the game map. :)

Basically do you want a 200x160 urban map based on Thiskinvali or a map encompassing most of Ossetia..., shrunk to fit 200x160...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

That's most likely true, but since we're doing a mini-version of the entire war, I'll give both sides Recon, and let the leaders decide what to do with them. However, I will only give each side a...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Sort of. There were several major actions in the Battle of Tskhinvali. The one were are focusing on had the Russians use the road, as you highlighted, and then do a flank, to attack directly from the...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Ahh, perfect, thank you. So I could just use Czech and Ukrainian tanks as captured. I was wondering how to do that, now I know.

.

My thoughts
First shows how games OOBs are pretty much right...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

200x180 will easily be enough. :)

(Supply is usually not a problem given the usual number of turns in any games - except maybe for some types of artillery/mortar systems.)

One question though -...

Re: Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

How would I do that?

Interesting topic, Snipey - but Komsomolskoye is only size 100x100 - and parts are covered by heavy woods. For a battalion vs battalion battle, with APCs etc, it might be...

Ossetian War Scenario - Info + Help Request

Quick background: I am a humanities major, who did a thesis on that darn Sun Tzu guy, applying his integration of morale to modern warfare. It's also used in management. From day one, I was able to...

Re: Georgia's on my mind.

Georgia can be on your mind, but they got annihilated in a war with Russia, and Russia's liking the status quo. In other words, no more wars, as Georgia will lose once again, badly, if it attacks...

Re: More Micheal Yon in Afghanistan

If that's true, and it probably is, that's ridiculous. I haven't seen anything, except high quality from Yon. Nowhere in his photo captions, or reports, does he say "we're losing in A-Stan". If he...

Re: A General Question about ORBATs

If you want to play a Korean war campaign as UN, you have the problem that although China came in later, at first it was all NK. So you would need 2 long campaigns to do it right.

The code has...

A General Question about ORBATs

I am just wondering, would it be possible to switch countries during campaigns? The reason I am asking, is say for instance I am playing as either Ukraine, or Croatia, or South Yemen. Let's say that...

Well it had been a fun debate :D Now my response:

I meant Mujaheedin, not Taliban. Although the Mujaheedin and the Taliban have similar organizational structure, they share similar commanders,...

In my defense, I did say that the front was idle, which meant no one was going to attack. But...just thank you for catching that, I cannot  enough for that error.

The didn't supply the Afghanistan contingent properly. Yes, there were supplies, but it wasn't enough. My quote was that the Stavka failed to supply the escalation. Your counter-argument is that...
