Re: MG fire \"shrapnel\" ??

I don't find this too upsetting as a MG is more an area weapon than a precise aim like a rifle. I also find that it's only true for the independent "Heavy MG" units and not MG's on vehicles, in...

Re: upgrading A0 unit

The only problem I have with the A0 loss being the campaign killer, is that the AI sometimes fires random artillery on turn one and I have had it taken out by the lucky round or by a random air...

Re: WinSPWW2 Upgraded To Version 1.1!

As of 11:30 CT, either via the save or open file option, the error message "File is corrupt" still haunts us!

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Andy, you said:
Yes. you have a limit of 200 for your core, and then the normal 500 unit limit applies, unless it is a special battle that requres a set-aside for special units (rubber rafts or...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Andy,
So you are saying that the Russians can buy 525 units including 30 KV heavy tanks and some 200 others with 9000 points at this point in the game.
And, I won't see this later on when their...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Charles,
I just had to post this. My first mission against the Russians in 6/41 was an assault followed by a "special" delay.

My force value is 4420 and I still have 80 total units (20 infantry,...

combat

I played the DOM 2 demo and was quite intrigued enough to consider purchasing DOM 3.
My question is: Do you have any control over combat? I mean, I would love to have some control of the tactical...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

DRG,
Yes, oddly for me, the next mission was an assault against the Brits and the force value was quite reasonable. In fact, with my almost 5000 point buy for auxillaries (lots of art), it was...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Charles,
I can certainly delete some of my core units to bring it into balance if my original 3000 buy is too much.
I'm not sure what the size map has to do with the choice of units?
My original...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

OK fans,
Now it's 5 missions in a row. My next meeting engagement with GB back in the Balkans in April 1941 sees me facing all Matilda II tanks again with some Valentine's thrown in.

It is April...

Re: Left out countries

Just as a sidelight, I would be glad to buy a game exactly like the enhanced version of SPWW2 with a WW1 timeframe included.

Would others? If not, then I agree it's a waste of time. If you have...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Charles,
Well, the very next mission against GB was a meeting engagement and guess what? Yep, almost all Matilda II tanks again. That's now 4 in a row counting 1 French nothing but char bis buy....

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Perhaps the problem in the buy lies in the fact one can select a type of unit without restriction.
In the "Other" steel panthers game, there is a 'rarity' factor that doesn't allow a player to...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

Hmmm,
That seems to make sense. I had training on and the Belgians bought about 250 units.
So where does the 'lower training' and 'cheaper' buys make itself known because those bad boys sure...

Bug in AI buys?

I think I've uncovered a problem in campaign buys for the AI?
My force value is 3750 (German) and I have 4100 points saved up to fix/purchase new equipment later.
My next mission was a meeting...

Re: Artillery

Thank you Mobhack! I'm ready to download that fix!

As a side note, will the loss of smoke in long campaigns be fixed too? I really miss laying smoke with my CS tanks.....

Re: Artillery

Well, I caught about 20 French R35's and H39's moving in a clear space - slowed them with a few AT rifles and rained artillery (about 9 105's) on them for three turns. Nothing left but one...

I've tried to do some poking around. The units that "lose" their smoke in a campaign game are armor units. Infantry and and artillery that start a campaign with smoke keep it through the...

Re: Some issues?

Narwan Said:
Just to make it clear, routed units are not the equivalent of 'troops running for the hill', at least not if that means what I think it does. Casualties in this game are not just kills...

Re: Some issues?

I suppose I should have mentioned that all the enemy infantry were routed. I would expect that AFV's chasing routed men at 0-50 meters would somehow have more effect than men shooting at them from...

Re: Some issues?

Narwan,
That seems to be the case as it's the infantry's rifle fire getting the kills and not the secondary mg, mortar, etc.
So I guess any tank's main gun and mg's are the equvalent of a squad's...

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

Joe,
I know what you mean but the solution, IMHO, is realistic and that is to preceed your advance with plenty of supressive artillery fire then move in. I've found that the defender is usually...

Re: Would like to see?

Charles,
Exactly, the VP's are always on the map and visible even during deployment.
That's what would be cool - if some or all VP's based on mission type were chosen by the computer but were not...

Re: Some issues?

Charles,
My gripe is more along these lines:
My tanks move in close and blaze away with minor effect. Folks say thats OK, it's the way it should be - fair enough. I don't know, I guess tanks in...

Re: Would like to see?

Walrus, Charles,
Yes, real people are the best cannon fodder but I also like playing the AI and would like to see more mission variety. If that can be achieved by just moving VP hexes, then...
