				 Special Poptypes
I'm trying to add this to the wiki, but I suck. In the meantime, here are the special poptypes with the associated rewards. There's some I didn't include, like the pyromancers you can snag a Fire Sword off of, because I didn't think they were special enough.

				 Re: Special Poptypes
Thanks a lot vfb, that's really cool. I never knew there was so many interesting population types, I don't think I have seen even half of these.

Does anyone have some exact numbers on their rarity?
I'm starting to get quite curious...
I don't recall the manual giving any exact information.

Are some of these restricted to certain ages? I couldn't see a wailing lady appearing the EA.

Yep, there are age and terrain restrictions. I'll add that when I get it figured out.

				 Re: Special Poptypes
Just to be clear - I'm assuming these "poptypes" are different than the "poptypes" listed in Edi's Dom3db? These can't be placed on a map via mod commands, and they don't have an impact on recruitables after defeating the listed occupants? |

				 Re: Special Poptypes
These defender poptypes are in addition to the poptypes listed in Edi's Dom3db. You can't use the poptype mod command to change the defenders of a province.
You also cannot set these poptypes as recruitable poptypes as far as I can tell,

				 Re: Special Poptypes
You can however use MAP commands to change the defenders of a province. Even beyond this list.
As far as making them recruitable, as far as I know the only way to do that is by modding (by modding a magic site)

Im pretty sure you wont find anything in the manual about these because many of the stranger rare things were thrown into the game well after its initial release.

 Nice research, vfb!
Please forgive my ignorance, but how would I actually use these poptypes in a mod or map? |

				 Re: Special Poptypes
These are some of the rare defenders that might appear. Surprise commanders and troops that might have equipment on them. They did not appear to be part of the original game. The code diggers are still ironing out the particulars. But so far
A) They do not appear to have a numeric designator so canot easily be used in mod or map commands

B) The random does not seem to be just random. It seems to also involve other factors. Possibly if its a randomly generated map, terrain, era, scales, and indept strength of the game.

Altho you cannot assign them by a poptype number, the game does allow assigning extra province defenders with extra equipment. The SemiRand program does it. And the Chaos games on my server do it.

Such as, to duplicate this one

The main reason I did this was for the sites -- I wanted to see if it was worth it blowing myself up, early on, to try to take the province. The items you can look at just by sending in a scout/commander on retreat.

So, it's actually not all that useful, unfortunately!
