Default Break siege

Is the manual wrong on the count that armies trying to break a siege will be destroyed if routed? I dug through some threads and it appears that units do retreat to an adjacent province if there is one, but I'd like to know for sure.

This is truth, units and commanders flee as normal from break siege fights.

There's a thread here if you want a list of all the lies the rulebook can tell you

On a similar subject: can the "break siege" army and another nearby army, from the same nation, atack jointly in the same turn against the sieging army?

Certainly, the fight will be just as if your forces were moving into the same enemy province.

Another one, also related with fortresses:

If I move back my army to a province where I have a fortress, and an enemy atacks that province in the same turn, will my army join my DP to defend in this turn or will it be inside the fortress and therefore not fighting this turn?

My goal would be to have my returning army join forces with the DP (in a province with a fortress, remember)so to repel the enemy attacjing, is that possible?

Once you've told them to move to the fortress, you can change the commander's order to "Move and Patrol".

How do I do that? the only order I see available while in a nearby prvince is "move". If I order my army to move to the province where I have a fortress, will they fight if an enemy moves at the same time there? or not?

[edit: Nevermind, I saw it, thanks!]

It's not 100% intuitive, but if you tell the commander to Move to the new province, and then right-click (I think) on him, it will give you the option to change his order to "Move and Patrol" in the new province. There's no way to issue the "Move and Patrol" order directly, you have to do Move first.

And yes, if you do Move and Patrol, they will fight any enemy who shows up in that province. They don't reduce unrest or catch spies like a normal Patrol order would, though.
