A question about rank promotion

How is rank promotion in campaign based? There was a rank promotion in my campaign but it went to a support unit

Sometimes a leader will get promoted e.g. Lt to captain. It is just chrome though, as the rank itself has no outcome on the game bar the info in the unit data screen.

It does have effect in the initial unit purchase of a formation for determining experience etc, but in a campaign it is the additions that happen due to experience that count, not what he is called.

Also - the SP campaign games take no notice of the command hierarchy so you can have a squeaky new LT created as company commander due to a killed coy commander, with captains and majors under him due to their promotions or a sniper 0 element becomes a captain etc.

So - take no notice other than it is a pointer as to their general experience level.
