Default Question about a feature in Dom 1

As there seems to be a lot of feature-requesting going around, I decided to de-lurk and, well, make A Contribution.

So, in Dom I there is this 'nasty' feature of converging armies and enemy attacking, which I really hope someone clarifies for me.

OK, setup (difficult-ish): I have armies A1 and A2 in provinces P1 and P2. They are both given 'move'-order to province E. Meanwhile, the heretic (henceforth: the Enemy) has her army B1 in province E and issues a 'move'-order to province A1.

Outcome of this scenario usually results in A1 NOT attacking leaving A2 to handle the B1.

My questions: Why? What's the deal with this? And most importantly, how is this handled in Dom II?

I couldn't find this in the "old forums" (comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic), so...

Yeah its kinda annoying, hope that it will be changed.
Example:

A1 is your army, and B1 is your province.
A2 is a hostile army, and B2 is a hostile province.

You attack with A1 from B1, and the ai is sending A2 from B2 in the mean time.

Those armies should clash, and not just moving into the other province and capturing it.

I think it is working like this in Dom 1, is this correct?

I believe either Jacques or George reported Humer's bug in the newsgroup some time in the past.

Aristoteles example is not a bug but a feature: 2 small armies can walk past each other in the wilderness. I like it as it is.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, but if you mean that armies that try to attack each other over the same border walk past each other this is intentional and based on the size of the two armies, the bigger their respective sizes the greater the chances that the two armies will clash. If two small armies cross the same border and attack each others starting province there is a good chance they won't meet. I think that is perfectly reasonable, it is not like you have desert storm era military intelligence and mobility.

Sorry for pressing the subject, but it annoys the *something-annoying* out of me...

I know the "slipping through" is intentional (should've included that in my post), but I was referring to feature, which Wendigo identified as reported bug, which includes three moving armies (two of mine, one enemy), as many provinces and results one of my armies NOT doing a damn thing!

Thanks Wendigo, I couldn't locate the thread of the said bug, at least now I know I wasn't talkin' outta me arse here.
