Default a thought just struck me

i haven't played ermor alot, or any main death magic nation but i was wondering, what does the priests preach to when the population is 0 and nothing lives there? spirits?

...if a thought struck you maybe you should strike it back

Ermorian priests don't preach (talkin Ashen Empire and Soul Gate here). They can't.

Well, the holy ones they might get from independants do. In which case they must be preaching to themselves - convincing themselves that it's GOOD that everything is dead....

Just because there's no people doesn't mean a god can't have dominion. Scale effects clearly have an influence independant of the belief of the population.

It could be the recent effect of Hollywood, but when I think of Ermor I get an image of the cursed men in the mountain from Return of the King. It is a city full of "people" they are just all dead. So I would guess the priests are similar to Aragon by trying to sway the undead to his cause (just in a more permanent level in the case of Dom2).

In the case of the general troops for Ermor, they are mindless hunks of bone and rotting flesh, but they are lead by slightly more animated and thoughtful undead. These are the types that a priest is winning over I would suppose. Just because a popluation is zero does not mean there is no one home; I think of it rather there are no heartbeats home.

In the case of Dominion spreading to other provinces that still have heartbeats. Well those folks are in the process of drinking the Kool-Aid. As they are being converted to the Ermor pretenders' ways, they are being corrupted and falling to the curse willingly.

Reverse conVersion would be the cursed losing their faith and or perhaps ties to the world and fading into oblivion while real living converts move to and propagate the once dead land (as I dont see the undead becoming living).

So I guess I agree, "spirits" or soon to be spirits is as good of an answer as any.

Independent holy-2 priests purchased by Ermor become unholy-1 priests.
