Default Two more whazzits, whyzzits

Deploy screen: Why won't infantry automatically load up onto tanks? They gladly load up onto halftrax.

In the German infantry 1943 "Brandenburg Kp gep"- Brandenburger mechanized company. Why is the command vehicle a 251/10 that cannot carry the command squad? Why aren't there enough SdKfz251s to actually carry the company?

Just loaded with questions here....

That is odd. Looks like the 251/10 and 251/10a can only carry 3 men but the average HQ has 6 men.

1) What are you talking about - the L-D sequence will only load into halftracks of the same platoon (deliberately).

The only other auto load is the "load all" key for everybody, which works the same way as the AI routine, for those who want to do such. WRT tank riders - it will leave some/most on foot as that is realistic. Apart from the USSR tank riding was uncommon (as they were highly vulnerable when doing so). Plus - the AI now knows about that, and will plink off TRs with MG, rifles etc - tanks are not the "super APC" they were i SP1/2/3.

Otherwise - you need to load things into vehicles individually.

2) As to the brandenbergers - the OOB designer obviously assigned the wrong type of halftrack. The weapons support ones do not have a section lift capacity. (and why we even have such an oddity in the OOB is beyond me, since that one would be even rarer than hen's teeth in the first place !

So I simply cannot automatically load infantry onto tanks even though they are the second part of a unit?!

I take a tank company command, two tanks - Hptman/Sgt- unit and change the sgt tank to infantry riders. They absorb (I believe) an in initial infantry assault from ambush. The L-D sequence will not load them automatically. So I end up loading all 26 by hand. I will be doing this for every battle for the life of the game. Yes?

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE LOAD ALL KEY?

The L-D sequence is written for transports (APCs and Trucks and probably helos etc) as far as I recall, though it MAY work for a platoon that has say 2 tanks and 2 rifle sections in it. Try an experimental formation in Mobhack and see if it works?.

As for the load all key - Game Guide, "Deployment Menu", scroll down a bit to the list of hot keys and see the section for "D". There is also a button for this - see the pic slightly above the "range Set" sectio with the landing craft etc - the button with 2 tanks and a "D" on it, middle of the second row from the bottom.

Cheers
Andy
