Action on that page begins post D-Day.

Other pages (links at bottom) cover other years (Nov 1941 on being somewhat intense).

Some entries give exact tank strengths & types at that date.
3 CLY seem to have used all the Desert types - Crusader through Stuart, Grant and Sherman.
Thats quite an extensive accounting of their actions. Thanks.
yep - even such gems as:

26/8/42 50% of Officers on Staff tour of 7th Motor Brigade front. Capt. McLaughlan, US Army, evacuated with fever.
So US Army troops were on-strength in UK units before TORCH. (Presumably instructors on the AFV in question?).

nope - Tank Crews

5/8/42 The Regiment moved to SIDI BISHR and were joined by a detachment of 30 US Army ORs (7 tank crews).

As I said ..."unexpected"
Anyway, bottom line is I'll "eat" whatever you "cook"!

P.S. How about a Royal Navy or Marines"commando" campaign? Could include some low visibility scenarios, port raids, speerheading amphibius assaults and a variety of locations (Med, Norway, Pacific). You know, a "join the navy, discover the world ... and destroy it!" thingy! Or a SAS version, if you want to keep your feet dry...

That would require a lot more customization. Not sure the Campaign generator would be adequate. This means I would need to design all of the scenario's and maps from scratch although if kept on a small scale it might be worth the effort.

Truthfully, not long ago, I was considering something similar using a combined US, UK, Canadian special ops unit of about Company(+) in size. Something using a mixture of SAS, Rangers, Commando's and Airborne troops as the Core.

DD,
I'd keep it Co.+ sized.
Just for simplcity and would garner more new players i think.
I'd play anything in WW2 though no matter how big

Thats what I am thinking. The other one, using WinSPMBT, is going well but tracking the units damages and other information in the level of detail I am is kinda slowing things down.
