Default AATF: Comments and question....

I am really enjoying the game (concept) but I have experienced quite a few crashes since I began playing a few days ago. I can't tell what is causing it but always happens while furiously clicking. This game requires quite a bit of that when issuing orders. I know the last crash was while on the mission screen.
My question. I'm playing the first Veit Nam battle. While dismounting company "B" i suffer some losses and damage to my transports. I send them back to base to mount and deliver company "c". Well, they can't load the entire company because of the afformentioned losses. I send what I do have loaded to the LZ for dismount and the remaining company "c" troops take off on foot with movement orders all the way to the LZ. I have to sellect them by drag and drop, detatch them and give them a "stop" order. I then have to go back and manually delete all of the movement orders just so they will stay put. After dismount I return to pick up the remaining elements of company "c" and I can't get my transportds to mount them. The whole thing turns into a huge "cluster F***". You see what I am trying to do but I have to be doing something wrong and there must be a better way. Any advice?

I am sorry to hear you are having problems.

Try using the "Insert dismounts" mission. It will do exactly what you are trying to do automatically. I would really need a little more info on the exact sequence of orders you are giving in order to understand why the dismounts are doing what you describe. But the Insert dismount order will cure the problem anyway.

Check the function reference section of the manual for keyboard shortcuts. They will dramatically reduce the ammount of clicking you have to do.

To answer the crashing issue, I will need more info about your system (OS, memory, video card, video memory, etc.). If you would prefer not to post it here, you can send it to

You should also try stopping the clock before you set about creating a path and such, and do the same when it comes time to offload your dismounts.

Anther tip is to use your rocket gunships to eliminate as much of the dismounted machine gun threat as possible, or you will continue to suffer losses when you insert the teams.

If I understand then the following is true:
1. I give a somewhat depleted transport company the "insert dismounts" mission for a full company of infantry.
2. The transports will pick up what it can and move to the insert point.
3. After dismounting those, what remains of the transports will return to the infantry left at the pick up point , will mount those and then deliver those to the insert point.
4. It then returns to it's original base.
I'll try this.

Actually, you will have to give the order once for each load you want to send, but it will prevent the "marching dismounts" problem you were seeing.
