What fps do you have ?
On my AthlonXP2400 / Radeon 9600 I have some 22 fps at normal details, 12-13 at High details, but I use Omega Drivers. Before that with Cat3 I had half of this.
Funnily on my old Athlon500/GF2MX I managed to have same fps ! ...

I have the same issue. Radeon 9800Pro, and horrid fps. My Ti500 gets better frames, running on a significantly less powerful CPU, with half the RAM.

Its not a huge deal I guess, I just crank down the battle detail...but it is bothersome because I should not have to do this.

On very low battle detail I get 50 fps on low 20 and on normal 16 and I have a :
AmdAthalon xp 2000+
512 mb ram
Radeon 9800 pro atlantis

If this "bug" is fixable it would be the most wonderfull thing to do...

It just seems like the Radeons don't do well with DomII, especially the Pro's. I have a 9600 pro and get 8 fps high and 13 fps medium, so I have to play with low for 25 fps. My brother barely did better with his 9800 pro.
I did try the omega drivers, but they caused a small but noticable performance drop on everything I tested, including DomII. Needless to say I was unimpressed and removed them and reinstalled my old drivers.
It would be nice if Illwinter wrote a direct3d Version or optimazations for radeon cards, but although I know nothing about 3d coding I still think it would be too much trouble for them to bother.

Hopefully it won't be too much of a bother. It would be a very nice and professional touch to refine the graphics engine and make it work properly with Radeon cards aswell.

It's not terribly urgent, as the game does run with the graphics turned off, but it's not good for the sales.

The current code is also _terribly_ heavy on the hardware, pretty as it is. Hopefully it will get streamlined after the lads have had some time to recooperate.

I am still looking for a new computer and hope this issue is addressed in the patch (or was already by patch 2.08). Don't want to have to buy a NVidia card just to play Dom II at satisfactory speeds.

Hey, is Dom2 not Far Cry or I don't know witch First Person Shooter. You can play it even at 10 fps

I have the "same" problem with my Radeon 9200, and I just noticed it reading the post (20 fps with 1 Go ram and 2.6 P4, far cry goes faster )

But for me it is really not a concern.

Don't expect a fix from the developers for this problem, they are simply doing calls to the SDL library in DOM2, which in turn does the OpenGl calls, which in turn are processed by the graphics driver. It's not even shure if this is a problem that the new ATI drivers have with DOM2, SDL or OpenGL.

It may help, and shurely wouldn't hurt, if you try the newest Version of the SDL.dll, you may get it at libsdl.org

Simply rename the sdl.dll in your Dom2 diretory to sdl.old or something and unzipped the new Version.

A.
