It's not quite obvious on Mac OS X... What you need to do is:
cd dominions2.app/Contents/Resources/
../MacOS/dominions2 --res 1920 1200
Otherwise the game doesn't know where to find the GUI...

widescreen resolutions?
Is there any chance of getting support for some widescreen resolutions into Dom2? Say, 1920x1200?
Is there some way to hack support into what we've got?
