I might be mistaken ... But I think mines ignore shields....
I usually have 5-8 sweepers in a 30 ship fleet- packed full of armor, and sweeper components.

Did you group the ships into a fleet and then set the fleet strategy to capture planet? If not - thats why the planet was wacked..

Against a human opponent I Suggest using Phased shields.
- level 5 Phased shields provide 375 of shielding per component... the normal level 5 shield only provides 300 per component

Install Moray then povray. Once they are installed - povray will be accessable from Moray - select the render button in the top tool bar menu of Moray and that will activate Pov-ray- Once your scene...

Since population grows at such a slow rate it is worth saving the population - build cheap transports; engines - cargo containers and vehicle control components.

this problem of strategic mine laying is easily modified in the components file - there are two listing for launching units- strategic and tactical - the second number listed is the strategic launch...

I tend to agree - tactical and strategic needs more separation when it comes to launching units.. There should not be a restriction on the amount launched when dealing with the long term strategic...

It is a feature of the game - you can also create warp pts in orbit around planets, in asteroid fields and around stars.
I dont recommend stacking warp pts - strategically it makes it rather easy...
