Re: Naval Guns

AFAIK, not for amphibious scenario's in general, but only for amphibious assaults.

Edit: and only for BEACH assaults, not river assaults.

Re: Japanese Long Campaign

Also, actual AP penetration decreases with range while HE penetration stays more or less the same. It may well be that from a certain range on the HE rounds actually have a better chance of...

Re: Confused as to version, question on preferences??

You're playing the old DOS based version of the game (v7.01 is the last of the OLD version of the game).
WinSPWW2 1.1b is the latest version of the new WINDOWS based game. The old DOS game was...

Re: Evolution of SPMBT and open source release

The game has been enormously improved from its original SP2 beginnings so just having those codes won't help you in improving this game, only in modding SP2 yourself.

Changing this game is NOT...

Re: Evolution of SPMBT and open source release

You're not the first one to ask about the source codes so it is an issue that has been previously adressed. In fact it has come up regularly over the years. The answers were very clear; NO release....

Re: Help with airlifting troops and vehicles

Remember that only the last two digits of lift capacity for a unit depict number of men it can transport. If there's a third digit the first one refers to heavy equipment types that can be...

Re: Evolution of SPMBT and open source release

Hi, the current developers of the SPCAMO games were given access to the source codes by SSI under the strict condition it would not be released to others. So it won't be made available.

Re: Thank you for Stalingrad

It's not a scenario but a campaign of linked scenario's. Look for it under 'campaigns' in the game.

Re: My first post with some questions

There are probably very few players out there who know and understand all of the gaming concepts. There are so many details worked into it in some way or other that even experienced gamers like me...

Re: My first post with some questions

It's not just malfunctioning radio's but also failures to connect that are modelled. Remember that sub-unit leaders especially usually have to keep track of several radio nets at the same time...

Re: My first post with some questions

There's no hitpoints here, just men in units. Units can lose men which reduces their combat effectiveness. You can check each individual unit to see how much men they have left (and how many they...

Re: No russian 85mm AA gun ?

There no 'heavy' AA weapons in this game that are dedicated for AA use, only for secondary use like AT (german 88mm is another example, it's only available as AT not as AA). That is intentional.

Re: MLRS

Forests block Line Of Sight. Sometimes you can see through one forest hex but not through two. So it's quite possible the forest prevent your unit from firing but that's not because its a MLRS, it's...

Re: Blood idea

Coding this won't be easy. Nothing really is. The littlest things can have big repercussions where you never expected them. That doesn't mean changes won't be made, but it does mean it needs to be...

Re: mines/dt/trenches? latest version

Version 2.51 is the latest one, so the 2005 is correct. There's been no new version for WinSPMBT since then as almost all attention has gone to WinSPWW2 for most of the last year. But many of the new...

It's a silly idea and (the blood) looks awfull too.
And no, you shouldn't get 'great info' on casualties either. There's already the 'gods view' that gives more info to a player than it should so...

Re: Offmap Artillery AP ammo is disable.

The artillery system is as it is and won't be changed. It was never meant to model what you want nor is that really within the scope of the game.
If you do want to mimic this you'll have to find a...

You can see through smoke guys. If the visibility is high and you're close to it you can sometimes see through the smoke and not just the 'partial' dissolving smoke but full smoke hexes too.

Also,...

Re: Are Delay battle really Delays?

That's true, the flags for delays do tend to be too forwardly deployed. Most (sometimes all) in the second quarter of the map and few or none in the first quarter.

Re: Are Delay battle really Delays?

You may be reading too much into the word 'delay' used for the battle type in the game. Look at it this way, there are only two types of defense missions, defends and delays. One gives you a prepared...

Re: Are Delay battle really Delays?

I think of advance vs delay battles as hasty attacks vs hasty defense battles.
A hasty defense requires the defender to balance losses, terrain and time. As time (nr of turns) is fixed for a...
