Re: Super dooper Snipers !

Check the stats. There's a huge difference between a marksman and an elite sniper. Accuracy, range, HE kill and FC are all different.

Snipers are very exensive. If you're suffering heavy...

Re: major mistake in Romanian OOB

If you'd be paying attention you'd know the developers have recently been extremely busy with WinSPWW2. They have also made clear a general update for WinSPMBT is scheduled for this (late) fall....

Re: Carrier 3 inch mortar, what was it.

The patch has it's own installer. Just click the unzipped file and follow the install procedure. Select the main game folder for the game you want to update to version 1.1 for the installer to copy...

Re: MG fire \"shrapnel\" ??

It's a side-effect of the reduction in lethality of artillery against AFV's. MMG's and'HMG's have a splash zone like heavy HE rounds do and the game treats them the same with regards to splash...

Re: Campaign victory conditions ?

It's 8:1 or 10:1 (not completely sure but I think the first) for a major victory.

Re: Guard \"mortar\" formations USSR oob

Which explanation can be found under the 'information' button on the top left of the page in the formation purchase screen for these Guard mortar formations.

Re: bug report

It can happen if units have suffered enough suppression. They won't get a lock. I've noticed this regularly with regards to soviet BA64 armored cars. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.

Re: Helicopter Damage.

Being damaged means receiving SIGNIFICANT damage, even if it is just one point. Not every rifle bullet that physically hits the helicopter results in a point of damage. Personally I've regularly seen...

Re: Is my game corrupted?

I think he's referring to the entry/exit arrows problem we found and fixed for WinSPWW2; it's also present in WinSPMBT. The top left (and bottom left?) entry/exits don't seem to work right either...

Re: Air to Ground Attacks

As flak units are usually deployed behind the frontline troops, try to get smoke screens between the two. You'll still be able to spot the combat troops but screened from (most) AA fire. And plan...

Re: Slovakia OOB

If I'm not mistaken the units you're referring to (those fighting against the germans) are considered to be part of the Czechoslovakian OB.

Re: Armoured trains

A number of new ways to use waypoints have been developed recently (by Pyros in particular; see the Kalpaki scenario for example) which MAY allow units under AI control to follow fixed movement...

Re: Weapon Discrepancies in the OOBs

Hi MarkSheppard,

it's not an invalid question, don't worry about that. But it does look you may have had two units mixed up. The 20mm Flak 38 (weapon 147 in Mobhack) has a HEK of 11, not 12....

Re: Armour ratings

Sloping is also factored in for the armor rating. So a T34 with hull front armor 9 will have considerably less than 90mm of armor plate, but it's slope will give it equivalent of about 90mm...

Re: Dismounted PanzerGrenadiers coy.

There is explicit and implicit claiming of experience with and knowledge of the game. Just as your last comment is an implicit claim you are not experienced at this game.
So perhaps it is time for...

Re: combined MG/Mortar Platoons.

That's indeed one solution and one which I use myself too. Sometimes however the heavy weapons are part of the HQ platoon of a company, as that was how these weapons were often distributed and...

Re: Dismounted PanzerGrenadiers coy.

You're wrong. Damaged squads MAY suffer from suppression due to these losses which MAY result in them becoming pinned. Doesn't have to be half either. Unit experience/morale is what matters most, not...

Re: Killing Infantry in WW2 and MBT

I'm starting to wonder if you really properly read the replies you get to your posts; from andy's first reply:

"Killing infantry in both games is about the same - as the code is rather similar."...

Re: HMGs/MMGs and LMGs.

If you'd read my post you'd see a good explanation why HMG's and MMG's are a lot more powerful than LMG's WHEN THEY HAVE THE SAME STATS.
Double the range also seems a fairly important factor which...

Re: HMGs/MMGs and LMGs.

There is a huge difference between the two. HMG's and MMG's have a splash range around the impact hex in which they can inflict damage and will inflict suppression (the main job of MMG's and HMG's...

Re: Bug in AI buys?

CharB1's were concentrated in formations (although perhaps not always). Here you see the OB of the french armored formations in 5/40:

Re: Non-Ger vs Sov/US/UK PBEM?

I may have room for one more game. A spanish civil war set up sound interesting? I've never played that yet.

Re: Some issues?

Just to make it clear, routed units are not the equivalent of 'troops running for the hill', at least not if that means what I think it does. Casualties in this game are not just kills but also...

Re: Australian/New Zealand OOB

Hi TDR, the reason we ask for sources is mainly for people to show us they know what they're talking about (and are also not just advocating one side of a 'controversial' issue). Too often people...
