Re: SAM Effectivness

The ability to withstand some damage (like A-10's and attack choppers) is already in the code. They are harder to damage. Whent hey do get damage, even 1 point, that doesn't mean a 'light' hit, but a...

Re: Sneaking commandos in MBT

Instead of pressing a button to infiltrate them behind enemy lines as you do in certain other games, here you have to actually infiltrate them through the lines yourselves. Get fast and small...

Re: Sneaking commandos in MBT

Hehe, hardly a waste! It just takes different tactics to use them effectively.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Improvements you want to WinSPMBT

It's either you directing all the units or leaving it up to the AI. There's little in between.
Of course you've seen real-time simulations where individual units do most of the menial tasks...

Re: Forest idea

The point of the new forest type would be to hinder vehicles more than regular forest hexes do without hindering infantry units more. Adding any type of terrain to the existing forest gives...

Re: Forest idea

If feasible that would indeed be a worthy addition. Currently woods aren't much of a hindrance to tracked vehicles (so long as there's no enemy hiding in it at least!) and a single 'woods' type...

Re: Improvements you want to WinSPMBT

A time limit does NOT make it more realistic. The usual reasoning for it goes something like "a real force commander has a limited amount of time to make decisions so why should a player have all the...

Re: Opponent Wanted

Hi, just wondering, why is 15% points for USSR more realistic for the time period? I can see why the USSR should have superior numbers but you get that by either buying cheaper equipment (not very...

Re: SPMBT and SPWaW

Armour thickness is based on actual armor in SPMBT (taking slope into account etc). If you're referring to the mm vs cm debate (which it basically is), visit the yahoo spww2 group. It's been debated...

Re: French Mortars

Okay, glad to see it is on the list. I replied because you mentioned only unit 442 in your reply and I wasn't sure if you were aware of the other inconsistencies concerning mortar crews in the french...

Re: Preferences settings

All realism settings on, all player preferences at 100%. Both for PBEM and vs AI.

I think these settings give greatest realism so I use them like that.

Re: French Mortars

Just to add to that, most french 120mm mortar units with two tubes have a crew of 6 (units 413, 420, 475). However there are two units (414, 476) that have two tubes and a crew of 10. There's also a...

Re: scenario 85

Sorry 'bout that. Somehow I always mix those two types up.

I also noticed some things in scenario 77; the North Korean concrete bunkers with 85mm D48 guns (D0 through E2) are equiped with heat...

scenario 85

Noticed that in scenario 85 (Iraq advances) the Iranian tanks (M60A1's and the Centurions) all come mostly with AP rounds for AT purposes but both types have an AP penetration value of 0 listed.

Re: Taking the Tip - Port Said, 1956

Hi, I just noticed something else. I've been running the scenario a bunch of times in a row just to see how the paradrops average out. Turns out usually 1 planes drops most of it's load in the...

Re: Taking the Tip - Port Said, 1956

Yes, I do know that, The start load out (few rifle rounds but a 'full' load of handgrenades and bazooka rounds) implies as much.
I pointed it out because I wasn't sure if this element of reloading...

Re: Taking the Tip - Port Said, 1956

One thing is off though in the scenario (only tested the hard version). When reloading from an ammo unit the unit will reload the ammo load off the ORIGINAL weapon for that slot. In other words, you...

Re: Move = suppression; after rally full movement

Yes, I have seen it happen with armed jeep-type vehicles and I think apc's too, but very rarely. I'm not even sure if it was in the windows game or dates back to the DOS games.

Re: Phantom artillery shoots

Could be he has his arty zeroed in but turned his tubes off. Could that show the pieces firing but no rounds actually landing?

Re: WINSPWW2?

That would be true if the battles in north africa against the vichy french were really 'desert' battles. Which they mostly were not. There is a huge difference between the western desert and French...

Re: WINSPWW2?

That's what I was thinking of. Have codes in there to reflect the terrains of the different Vichy (and free french) territories (and a list somewhere to show you which is which). All you do is type...

Re: WINSPWW2?

I've tried to set-up battles (for PBEM) between the US and French in SPWW2 to simulate the US Torch landings but it always reverted to a battle in mainland france, not the colonies. I assume/hope in...
