P&N won't run with the new patch. I get two errors with the settings.txt when I try to start. One with message display and another with ship movement delay.
Any idea when an update will be made?

Any chance of getting it up on PBW.
The 1st P&N game is ready to start be we are debating to wait for 2.4.
So far 2.4 seems to be less buggy that 2.3c in solo games.

What was happening was my 30 ship fleet engaged a 50 ship fleet with enough repair ships...

Simplest solution. Defender always goes first. Often a smaller empires only defense is to guard a warp point so as to get that first volley off. It forces the attacker to attack with a larger force....

I agree with Atrocities. Even when you toggle "Avoid System" it only partially works. Colony ships and Transports avoid the system while warships merrily destroy themselves. I often bulid a few...

I would say there is another type you missed and that is the balanced ship.
Good offensive/defensive abilities with decent speed.
This is the type I useally go for. Especially in solo games....

I would have to look but off the top of my head you are missing at least four sets. Two of Lord of Lion Park's the Flash Gordon and Ming sets. (Whatever happened to LoLP?)

In theory this is what the ship maintenance does. Most games resources are not much of a problem. Most players lower their maintenace costs.
This can even be done without a mod just have all players...

In my experience. If an attacker has a balanced fleet there is nothing your planet can do to save itself fast. Otherwise the only defenses I can think of are.

Components.txt is where you want to look Dragonlord. Weapon Modifier entry for the weapon.
There are three weapons that have built in to hit bonuses.
PD +70
WMG +30

I also like WMG's. IMHO they are the best basic tech LR direct fire weapon. That +30 bonus goes a long way in scoring more hits at range. They are best used in combos with other weapons/ships.

Dragonlord I think most of the people posting here are talking about strategic combat. Basing their experiences on PBW.

Sure Dragonlord. Actually in that game PPBs never made any differance except in battles vs NPC,s. Phased Shield V's showed up very quick. The race I didn't give more details on was using Organic Tech...
