Re: British Army\'s Jackal

You have to remember that FAVs (fast attack vehicles)such as the land rover, dune buggies, are just raiding vehicles just as they were during WWII in the desert. They are for raiding and supporting...

Re: British Army\'s Jackal

I just checked various web sites and the the Jackal is a new British long range patrol vehicle which can mount various types of weapons similar to their SAS Land Rovers. It also appears to be more...

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

In addition to the EFSS, do the Marines plan on equipping the LAV 81mm mortar with the 120mm mortar? I always heard that they were disappointed with the 81mm mortar since it was so light. Thanks

Re: Future Combat Systems ---- USA

From what I have read the Abrams and Bradleys (Legacy systems) will not be scrapped. Some will still be kept for heavy operations. I am not sure of the mix between the Legacy systems and the FCS...

Re: Can helis transfer any vehicles in the game?

What is the deployment time to unload a vehicle from a sling load? Just as the article above describes the load teams, when I was in the Marines (late 70s) they had Helicopter Support Teams which I...

Re: Can helis transfer any vehicles in the game?

A Marine Corps CH-53E can sling load a LAV-25. I've seen photos of this. I don't know if the vehicle crew was inside the chopper or not. I have read of a CH-47 lifting an
M-113. Right now the...

Re: WinSPMBTv4 Upgrade

This is great news. If its not too late for the pictures of
US heavy trucks, could you include a photo of the M977 HEMTT! That would be great. Thanks

Re: About river crossings...

For river crossings check out the Israeli OOB. There is a heavy amphibian called the Timsakh which is like the NATO M2 bridging ferry. You have to load your equipment/vehicles on it and then ferry it...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Great, I just saw it as icon 3228. That would be good to see those lined up across a river. Thats what I love about the Steel Panthers series of games whether it is SPWAW or SPMBT/SPWWII, this game...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

With regards to the mobile bridges, there is one already in the game! Its in the Israeli OOB. This is the Timsakh heavy amphibian, which is the same as the M2 mobile bridging ferry. In real life you...

Re: Expeditionary Fire Support System

Regarding the CBS report they did not realize that the vehicle, just like the HMMWV, is not intended to be combat vehicle. Its a prime mover vehicle as configured to tow the mortar. When you think...

Re: TUSKs now in Iraq.

I like the .50 cal above the main gun. I believe the Israelis have been doing his for many years. This is great for counter-sniper work.

Re: Got Vista?

Don, thanks for that information. I don't know what I (or the rest of us) would do if we couldn't play SP any more!

Re: A Modern Day StuG!

A remote MK-19 grenade launcher would make a nice secondary armament.

Re: River Patrol Craft and Airlifts

As far as unloading them in the water, I have only been able to unload them in a hex adjacent to the water. I then hope for the best that the boats are overlapping the water that they can sail off.

Re: River Patrol Craft and Airlifts

I just checked, and the rigid raiders and zodiacs have a weight of 1. But then you could only carry them on a tank transporter, or heavy lift chopper such as the CH-53/
CH-47.

Re: River Patrol Craft and Airlifts

The tank transporter can carry the small river rafts such as the rigid raiders etc. I took a utility vehicle and put it under the "tank transporter" classification and it works well! Also the Israeli...

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

Welk, so the bridge is operated in the game in the same way the barge carrier operates, by unloading the bridge/barge? And once in operation, the vehicle is transported like the M2 bridge ferry? I...

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

Near the top of the picture it looks like you have a bridge and bridge launcher (just above the VAB mortar). How do these work? Would this be possibe for the regular SPMBT game? Thanks

That is a good review from the Military Channel. Regardless of the version (SPWAW, SPMBT, or SPWWII)I think that this is the best wargame out there due to its versatility. You can play any size game...

Re: Hover Hover Hovercraft!

Shuhiir, you are correct about the capacity of the LCAC. It can carry the M1A1, and the AAV. So it should have no problem carrying the EFV, however only one of them. I think it can also carry four...
