Re: Simulator Formations?

And not to mention setting the load-out for your ships, of course http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Simulator Formations?

I'd also like to see this.

And further into the future, I'd like to see the ability to set up a simulator battle, set all the formations, save the configuration to a file, and email it to other...

Re: Favorite trick in the game (spoilers possible)

The Yellow Kawangi obliterated the Vent Mother once it got into range, and I ran away http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The Tchorak has a big range advantage and could pound...

Re: Favorite trick in the game (spoilers possible)

I was fortunate recently to enter a system with two enormous opposing blips on the radar. I was not especially well-armed, but I just had to know what the heck was happening there!

It turned out...

Re: When exploring black holes for points..

I did this not once but twice in recent times! :/

The first was major stupidity -- my brain got D... and P... confused, and I willingly and suicidally leapt into a black hole in search of entirely...

Re: Point defense, fighter defense, fighter weapon

1. Because you can pause the action, manual point-defense is often the way to go!!

2. The PVC rules the roost, as you say. That aside, with a decent computer, beam weapons rule. The Micrometeorite...

Re: Demo Bug: Black screen when application quits

It sounds like a problem with your OpenGL drivers to me. A screenshot might help explain what you're seeing.

Press F12 to take one. The .tga file is written to the game folder. Convert it to a...

Re: Why I won\'t be buying the game - detailed repo

Durn. I'm sure that I saw a boxed Starships Unlimited for very little just a few months back in a shop that I didn't expect to find software in. I didn't know what it was, so I ignored it. I'm pretty...

Re: Comments, suggestions, ...

Fingers: Oh I see! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif A slight misinterpretation there on my part.

From the outside it does seem like something that shouldn't be a major...

Re: Comments, suggestions, ...

I'm awfully surprised to read that. It is more time consuming to deal with custom 8-bit palettes than it is to simply work in 24-bit colour; the web has not been an 8-bit landscape for many many...

Re: Bug during modding

Weird Worlds isn't using the Unreal Engine, and "mod" means nothing more than "modification". Weird Worlds can be modified (and significantly so in many ways), and therefore it is in no way incorrect...

Re: Favorite trick in the game (spoilers possible)

We maintain a high-score table at ISF, so the game is competitive in that respect http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Fighters: a stardrive speed liability?

I agree, so I'm sad that it was changed -- it really was a great foil in SAIS, and meant that you needed a backup drive on hand to safely use the hyperdrive (or enough time to travel on thrusters...

Re: BUG: Nebula Plow

Especially given that the penalty for disturbing the nebula is based on the amount of nebula you disturb -- for instance, in one game a 'glancing blow' (accidental, as it turned out...

Re: BUG: Nebula Plow

Yep, check out that negative value in the "bonus" section of your mission score-card. I don't know whether if there is any multiplier attached to this depending on the mission type.

Re: Favorite trick in the game (spoilers possible)

If you have the Aethric Mirror and no sufficiently good stardrive, and you wish to engage a distant enemy in combat without the long travel time, all you need is a star in close proximity to...

Re: Fighters: a stardrive speed liability?

I take it you're a SAIS player? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

There's a rather significant change with Weird Worlds when it comes to the Hyperdrive and escaping from a...

Re: One more suggestion...

My thinking was that I'd like for a text log of your voyage to be attached to the high-score table, so that you could click something to review how it was that you got that great score (or the tragic...

Re: Comments, suggestions, ...

I agree about ther icon (a little less so when large, but I never see it at that size). The Zorg head is already used for the SAIS icon though, so it would cause confusion to reuse that.

It's 256...

Re: One more suggestion...

Yeah, I'd really love something like this, and it would fit the theme fantastically. "Humourous comments" would be difficult to do without having them wear rather thin, but maybe for certain rare...

Re: Version Help - Mod question

The Red Planet readme does indeed refer to version 1.2 or above. Red Planet, however, is Hugo's mod for Strange Adventures in Infinite Space (Weird Worlds' predecessor). You should in fact update to...
